“Mr. Rowley,” she said, turning to face him.
He kept his features neutral as he stopped, nodding at Detective Cruz in greeting. Fuck. He really didn’t need to deal with her right now.
“Looking for a little light reading?” she said, gesturing toward the adult store behind them.
“Something like that. Can I help you with something, Detective? Have you found a lead in the case?”
“We’ve got a few angles we’re working.” Her oblique reply matched her calm countenance. She was utterly unfazed by the size difference between them, or the fact that she was standing alone on the street in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Vegas. “What I’m most interested in at the moment, however, is how you’ve been occupying your time tonight. You’ve made some interesting stops.”
