Chapter 2: Leyley and the Class

Andrew's POV

"Why did it take you so long to clean your face? Don't tell me you were doing naughty things ~"

As I came out of the bathroom, I was greeted by my little sister in this life, alias Ashley or Leyley, which is her nickname.

I wasn't really a die-hard fan of the game The Coffin of Andy & Leyley, but I had played the two available episodes because of my ex-girlfriend.

She was the kind of girl who liked "dark love" and, weirdly enough, she dumped me when her boyfriend was accused of rape. A real hypocrite.

"You really think I'd do that kind of thing in my condition? And why did you rummage through the trash?"

I couldn't help but look at her tiredly. The original Andrew had hidden his canned tomatoes to eat them later, but it seems he underestimated his sister.

"How do you know I went through the trash?" Leyley looked at me suspiciously.

"I had put it there for later. We're not really in a position to waste what little food we have left."

I agreed with the original Andrew's idea. We couldn't afford to waste our resources now.

"What!! You hid food while your favorite sister was starving!!" Leyley clenched her fist in frustration.

It seems the plan to save this food for later is screwed. If Leyley wants something from Andrew, she always ends up getting it. Resisting only creates more problems.

Andrew understood this only after an innocent's blood had stained his hands because of Leyley.

"Can't you just put this can back where you found it?"

I could only try to see if I could change her mind by asking calmly.

"This food will only go in my mouth and nowhere else ~"

She gave me her usual teasing smile. According to Andrew's memories, it's almost impossible to tell when Leyley is joking or when she's serious.

She's really a pain to deal with. I understand why, after waking up, I had several dark thoughts like guilt.

"Fine, we'll eat and then we'll probably starve to death if I don't find a solution quickly," I said, taking the can from her hands and heading to the kitchen.

"You're not going to let me cook??" Leyley asked, following me hastily.

"No, this might be our last meal, so I'm going to eat it properly."

I grabbed a cookbook lying on a shelf and started checking if there were any seasonings left.

There was no more salt. Andrew and Leyley had used it to mineralize some of the water they consumed to avoid overhydration caused by their overconsumption of water to fill their hungry stomachs.

I studied medicine on Earth and, frankly, I don't recommend this kind of practice during famine. But I understand that the two siblings were desperate to fill their stomachs.

knock knock

"Is anyone there?" The guardian's voice echoed in the living room, or more precisely behind the door.

"I'll go see," said Leyley, rushing to the living room.

I wanted to tell her not to answer the guardian at all, but I thought better of it after reflection.

I don't think we can confront this man now. I'm too weak because of the famine, and Leyley is in a similar situation.

I also remember that a guardian has a weapon with him. It's not with a kitchen knife that I'm going to beat a gun.

There's also the fact that I currently don't possess any purely offensive powers. They're all related to survival and my evolution.

"You explained to me earlier that you're an AI, right? Can't you just scan this book and transfer its contents to me?"

I wanted to know if the AI could also accomplish certain tasks and not just guide me with the mercenary system or the agency.

[Negative, this feature must be obtained with PK.] The emotionless voice of the system AI answered me quickly.

I thought it would be too easy.

....

"That bastard really wants us dead," Leyley declared in an annoyed tone, referring to the guardian.

She and I were eating our tomatoes.

Personally, I had taken little compared to her. My gesture wasn't really out of pure kindness, but because I wanted Leyley to trust me a bit more.

This girl might be crazy, but she's extremely intriguing, and I'll need someone like her to avoid living the same thing as in my past life.

"Are you listening to me?"

Leyley's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I had to avoid being so inattentive to my environment.

I also noticed that her face was dangerously close to mine.

*Cough*, I coughed to change the particular atmosphere a bit and recreated some distance between us.

"Sorry, I was lost in thought," I said honestly.

"Wow, the emo king just apologized, hehe ~"

I preferred to ignore her. If I get into a discussion with her now, I risk falling into her little game.

I really feel like I'm dealing with Harley Quinn.

"Don't wash the dishes, we need to save every bit of energy for now."

I didn't want her to faint like in the original story. It's because of that that Andrew and she had been forced to eat their neighbor.

"Okay, if it can reassure my little Andy ~"

I only grumble in response after she uttered that nickname. You should know that this nickname reminded the original Andrew of his past actions, and it also affects me negatively.

Leyley just smiled in response to my grumbling.

Bam — loud music blared.

"Seems like the neighbor has started again."

Leyley, just like me, was annoyed by this deafening music that our neighbor often plays.

"Want to go spy on him?"

I already knew she was going to suggest that, and that's also how she was going to start getting interested in the supernatural bit by bit.

I didn't really want to get involved with the supernatural of this world, but one of the easiest ways to leave this cursed place was with the help of paranormal entities.

"Open the balcony, I'll go find something so we can get to the neighbor's place."

Things unfolded as in the original. I found a wooden plank strong enough, which I brought to the balcony to cross over to the neighbor's.

"Damn, our neighbor is a satanist," Leyley muttered, observing the hooded man in the middle of a magic circle drawn on the floor with unknown blood.

"Yes, he does seem to be in the middle of a satanic ritual," I said, observing the scene.

The man began to complain about the failure of his ritual, saying he should have killed someone.
