Maybe next year

We arrived at the talent show at 12:00 so Prince Max, Mr. Williams, my mom, and Carol could all meet and have front row seats behind the judges. The talent show was at the local theater so there was a big stage where all the contestants could perform and many rows of bleachers. Some people were already there but it started to get packed when it turned 1:00. It wasn't long until it was 2:00 and contestants were already starting to perform. It felt like time had slowed down, there were so many good performances but Emily and I didn't care about winning, it was all about having fun and we occasionally cheered for some of the contestants. 4:25, we were introduced to the crowd and I pulled Emily onto the stage. I was genuinely excited and grinning from ear to ear but Emily had a nervous smile and she just looked like she wanted to run. I wore a bright baby blue button up T-shirt tucked into a pair of jean shorts and my wavy dark brown hair flowing freely down over my shoulders, Emily wore a sunset colored tank top with matching shorts and her straight dirty blonde hair pulled back into a loose ponytail. When Show me how you Burlesque we immediately started dancing and I could tell that Emily had relaxed a bit, I saw that my mom was recording and Mr. Williams was nodding his head to the music, then I saw him! My father was in the far back but still visible wearing a black overcoat and black hat that hid his eyes but I could see the clear smile covering his face. My father was the leader of a very dangerous gang that is feared by all even the police. I never met him in person and my mother didn't keep pictures of him but he was in the newspapers and TV at least 3 times a month. I didn't let his presence ruin my good time as long as he stayed far from me and my mother.

Once we finished our performance we left the stage and watched and waited until everyone had their turn on the stage. Then everyone joined on the stage waiting to hear who won the Spring Talent Show. " The winner of this year's talent show is The Bro's!" the announcer said. Everyone stood and cheered, Emily and I walked up to the small group of boys and congratulated them shaking their hands like we did every year. Later Emily and I walked off the stage and into the entrance hall to be congratulated by Prince Max, Mr. Williams, my mother, and Carol. I asked everyone, " What did you think of our performance?" Prince Max said playfully, " You both were better than I expected, good job." Mr. Williams said with a nod of approval, " I enjoyed watching the both of you perform." My mom said holding back her tears, " You both were amazing like always." Carol complained, " I honestly think you both should have won." Emily laughed, " Mom you say that every year!" Carol said, " And every year I mean it."
