At the same time on the other side of the country along the east coast in the city that never sleeps a different scene played out. A woman in her mid-forties was having a peculiar conversation in a high-rise office building at the centre of the Big Apple. She had a persistent frown as she watched a video her niece had just sent her.

She was dressed in a beige lady's office suit that matched her round gold-rimmed glasses giving her an elegant look. Her black hair is cut short reaching just above her shoulder in a bob-cut style. If Rakim was here he would marvel at how much the woman looks like Ella. If not for the more mature features and black hair some might mistake them for siblings.

"You telling me that kid recorded both the song and video in one day," She asked her niece who was on the other end of her laptop on a video call. Ella who was at the end of the call frowned upon hearing her aunt's words clearly displeased.

"He's my son now and yes he did," She responded with clear displeasure in her tone as she glared at the woman through the screen. The woman in the office was taken aback by her niece's sudden outburst not expecting it at all.

She has always been close with her older niece despite always being at odds with her sister. Even when her niece told her she was thinking of fostering a kid she supported her. Although at first, she believed that her niece was just having a midlife crisis after losing her child. However when she actually went through with it and even fostered a kid straight juvie no less.

Safe to say the whole family was in uproar thinking of all the different ways things could go wrong. Her big sister even ran a background test and tried to hire a security team only to be shut down by her daughter. What surprised me is the fact that Gordan was ok with the whole thing but if I know him he's run like five different background checks on the kid.

"OK calm down hun, why'd you send this to me and not your mother," I asked her wondering why she would go to me first. After all my sister is a pretty good agent, not on my level of course but she does good for herself.

"I'm not talking to her right now, plus she is still mad that I chose law over showbiz," Ella replied in a slightly sombre tone surprising me that she still thought about it. My Big sis invested quite a lot of effort trying to guide her into this world but she never really took to it.

"You two should hurry up and break bread, as for your son one song isn't enough for us to sign him, let's see how it does after a week," I told her not wanting to get her hopes up that I'll sign him.

Music isn't my area of expertise since I focus more on the fashion and film side of the business. I could use a strong artist for the music side so if he has potential I'll do my best to support him. Plus it helps that he's got good looks which could be marketable in some film roles.

"All I'm asking for is for you to give him a chance," Ella replied with a much happier expression as she folded a few stacks of documents. "I have to go now, I have a meeting with a client, By the way, his YouTube video is at 50,000 views now." She stated with excitement written all over her face as she directly ended the call.

Stupefied at her actions it took me a second to realise what he words meant. Quickly refreshing the page on my laptop I checked the views count and it directly jumped to 55,570. I'm not sure what is happening in the LA circles but it's safe to say this is going viral fast. All the comments are surprisingly interactive too and aren't just people trolling for a laugh.

"Play that back for me," I told Zoe after I finished singing the chorus into the mic. This song is a completely different style from First Day Out having a deeper meaning. It talks about growing up in the good and trying to make it out and the gritty reality of it.

I can relate to when he talks about losing those close to him, It just hits differently when it has happened to you. This melodic flow perfectly brings across the needed emotions throughout the song. Rex told me the artist from his world made this type of flow his trademark.

"M'kay," She replied in a meek voice as she sent me a look filled with sympathy. I could tell that she was trying not to show it but with how clear her eyes are it's pretty easy to tell. Not bothering with the sorry look she was giving me I closed my eyes as the speakers rang out.

"Yeah, I know

You be posted up from Sunday to Saturday night

Started hanging with the members then you blew a few pipes

And you gone do the dash if you see them blue lights

A lot of people dying and it's a chance that you might

You got God on your side but it's hard to do right

Don't pay them haters no mind, you can be what you like

Tryna leave this in the past grinding for a new life"

listening to my voice as singing the lyrics I felt like something was missing. Don't get me wrong it sounds great but I lacks a little bit of emotional depth. I was simply thinking of singing the lyrics to the best of my abilities and didn't put much emphasis on emotions.

"Let's record that again," I told Zoe after a moment of gathering my thoughts. Internalising the meaning of the song flashes of memories that I've tried my best to forget flashed in my mind.

"You sure that sounded really good," she asked me wanting to make sure that I was certain. From her expression, I can tell that she was thoroughly impressed by my singing of the chorus. This is all despite not fully understanding the meaning behind the lyrics.

"It's missing something, press play in three seconds," I told her as I closed my eyes holding onto the turbulent emotions that were running through my mind.

Remembering the friends who I was close to only for them to die over beef that wasn't even ours. Thinking about how I lost my best friend Alex because of a meaningless driveby. Remmebering all the blood that spilled everywhere, holding him in my arms as his body slowly turned cold.

Without realising tears streamed out of my shut eyes but I completely focussed on the instrumental that started playing on my headphones. The sombre starting notes now had a whole different feeling to them resonating with my current emotion. After the first ten seconds, I started singing on cue channeling the emotions I was feeling into my voice.

Keeping my eyes shut as I sang the complete 21 seconds of the first bar with every bit of emotion I could produce. Surprisingly despite all the emotions that were running through me My voice remained powerful and steady. If I had opened my eyes I would have noticed the purple particles that started floating in the air.
