Chapter 17

Rick got captured again. He felt humiliated. This time they took him to a room with light, though, they tied him to a chair and left him there. He sat there for a couple of hours, every now and then he shouted, to whoever who heard him, questions like "why am I here?", "what do you want with me?" and "can anybody hear me?". Then he heard a different sound and the door flung opened. A body was thrown in and the door was closed once again. Rick immediately recognized the clothes.

"Kate!!!" he started to fight the laces around his hands and legs.

His heart accelerated and he violently shook his whole body, maybe that would do the trick. He bent down and tried biting the rope.

"Come on! Kate?" Rick mumbled.

The rope on his right hand loosened and he tired of the other laces and ran to Kate.

She didn't move and when Rick turned her around to see her face she had a red 3 centimeters line right next to her eye.

"Kate, please, honey, wake up" he whispered while stroking her hair.

He touched her lips with his thumb and stroke her cheek. He held her in his arms, tears threaten to fall.

"Please, please, please. Kate, I love you, please don't go. Stay with me" he whispered all over and over again.

He bent down and kissed her forehead, then her cheek and then her lips. He felt alone, cold. He didn't know what to do, she breathed but she was unconscious. His tears slipped his eyes and fell down to land on Kate's cheek. The tear followed her cheek down to her hair. Rick continued whisper, trying to get Kate to wake up. He told her he loved her a million times, trying to get some kind of response from her. But she didn't move a muscle. Why would this happen again? Was this irony given from the universe? Was this how they were supposed to die?

"Kate, please, do anything if you can hear me. There are people at home who need you, I know your dad need you. Esposito and Ryan too, Lanie need you. I know you might not know about this but Alexis need you. She sees you as a mother, I don't know if you've noticed it but she does. Ever since the day she met you she has looked up to you. You know why she took that intern at the precinct in the first place? You know that first time when you let her organize the stuff which people often don't collect from their family members who's dead? She wasn't there to get closer to me, she was there to get to know you. And all those times she when she had certain problem's you were the one she turned to, you were the one who could give her the answers she needed. Come one, Kate. You can do this, just open your eyes. My mother loves you too. She loves you like her own daughter... which is a little weird cause that would make us siblings... but scratch that! The point is she needs you too. And most importantly I NEED YOU. I will always need you. I love you and I can't imagine how my life would be without you, and I honestly don't want to think about it. Cause my life would be nothing without you, I wouldn't live. You are my one and only, I've never felt this way with any other woman, not with Gina and not with Meredith nor any other one for that matter. I don't only love you, I am IN love with you, I've fallen for you, and I can't lose you. Not now, not ever" Rick went quiet and cried softly.

"Rick?"

Rick looked at Kate's face and looked into her now open hazel eyes. Her eyes were filled with tears and she looked at him with love. She had heard every word.
