"We will be arriving at Oscorp in 20 minutes. Remember, don't touch anything!"
As the teacher's instruction fell on deaf ears, I continued looking out of the window, taking in the scenery of homeless people of New York, their population booming due to the 2008 recession.
I am Shreya Singh, a 16 year old high schooler in Midtown High School. For the past 16 years, I have been living my second life in one of the Marvel universe after dying to a speeding Porche driven by a drunk, entitled brat.
How do I know that this is the world of Marvel? Because Tony Stark is always in the front of newspaper, with new scandals everyday. And my class is currently headed to Oscorp.
It is not MCU though, because Oscorp doesn't exist there. Or it is MCU? I don't really have enough knowledge about marvel apart from the main movies and a bunch of fanfiction, which I have mostly forgotten by now.
I live with my mom and dad, both alive and well. No orphan drama.
Dad is, as stereotypical it is, an IT guy. Pretty high up in Microsoft. Because of that, we are pretty rich, holding some good stocks of the company, and mom doesn't really need to have a job. She is a housewife.
As for me, I am not a super genius like every other person in the fanfics are. I score good in the exams, am fairly smart, but not super smart. I bought some stocks in mom's name, like Apple, Facebook, Alphabet, Nvidia and such. When the events of Iron Man happens and stock price of Stark Industries hit rock bottom, I plan to buy a lot of it.
Money is not really a problem.
But, money doesn't make one safe in Marvel Universe. Unlike the other fantasy worlds like Naruto, Marvel is much more dangerous, because there is a very high chance of dying due to collateral challenge. It doesn't matter if the power levels of this universe are higher or lower. Unless you have superpowers, you are always facing death. Moreover, I wasn't a comic nerd who knows everything.
That's why, I plan to get spidey powers. I mean not really getting bitten by the spider. I don't want to be part of some destiny bullshit. I don't want any canon event to happen to me.
What I plan to get is a newborn symbiote and shift back to India in a tier 3 city with my mother, where skyscrapers are not a thing and serious crime rate like murder, rape and stuff are astronomically lower than here.
Every alien attacks USA anyway. No one will be interested in invading a small city of no value with an alien army.
The problem is, getting a symbiote, especially a newborn, will be extremely difficult. But it is still the safest and easiest way to get superpowers. I read somewhere that if bitten by the spider, when it isn't your fate, turns you into a spider monster, and you are taken over by the spider.
I don't want that to happen. That's why, I am not really going to try anything.
Today, we are going to an Oscorp lab that is going to be shut down tomorrow due to lay offs in the recession. The lab contains just some new different species of spiders, rats, corns, etc. which were cross-bred and all in the presence of radiation.
Radioactive spider. Does this ring a bell?
All of these will be disposed off, since they aren't of much use, and only like a hobby thing for Oscorp with the too much extra money it had.
Peter, Gwen, Cindy, Harry, Mary and such kids are my classmates, so it is highly likely that the spider will be here.
And I stay away from them as much as possible. Getting involved with them will bring nothing but trouble.
"We are here! Remember, don't make a ruckus! The lab is in the middle of shutting down, so many people are working here packing up and disposing off stuff. Don't disturb them!"
I got off from the bus, and nothing really happened during the trip. I saw a glass container not having a spider, and quickly moved on.
Whoever becomes Spidey is not my concern.
*******
"I am home!"
"Welcome back! How was your trip?"
Mom shouted from the kitchen.
"Nothing interesting, really."
"Then go and take a bath. You just came from radiation."
"I didn't come from radiation. And bathing wouldn't remove radiation even if I got some of it, probably."
"I don't care! Go take a bath. And use soap and shampoo too instead of being a crow!"
"Geez... Yeah. I am going."
As I went to bath without a care, I didn't realise that something crazy was going to happen.

Shivani Singh, age 38, was a typical Indian mom, and coddled her daughter too much, so that Shreya even left her bag in the living room without even taking out the tiffin and water bottle.
"This girl, never does her job herself."
Muttering to herself, she took out the bottle and tiffin, but something crawled on her hand as she went to put them into sink.
"Ouch!"
She said as something bit her.
It was a spider. Of red and golden color, one that she hasn't seen before.
She smashed it dead, and threw in the garbage bin.
'Rubbing it with a key should do the job.'
Instead of going to the doctor, she rubbed her hand where she was bit with a key for some time, and went back to prepare food.
It's not like anything is going to happen beside a small swelling for some days.
