Chapter 89: The Buried Memories

In the end, it was because of that time he saved Bucky, preventing him from falling off a cliff.

On the train, Jack was confused, feeling like he had forgotten something important. At the time, he thought it was just a trick of the mind, but now he realized that something had truly happened and that his memories of it had been erased.

But who could have done such a thing?

Thinking this, he looked to the Ancient One, the only person who could give him answers.

"I cannot unlock the memory in your mind," she said, shaking her head. "I can sense that there is Magic at work in the deep of your mind, but the Magic of this spell is stronger than mine. I cannot undo this spell."

"Stronger than you?" Jack was shocked, looking at her in disbelief.

This was the Ancient One, a being even Thanos dared not to cross, the Supreme Sorcerer who had guarded Earth for hundreds of years. And yet there was someone whose Magic surpassed her own.

'How is that possible?'

"Just to clarify, memory magic is not my strong suit," explained the Ancient One. "And I think you wouldn't want me to perform Magic in your brain. Of course, if you don't mind, I can try."

"Thanks, but no thanks!" Jack refused the proposal without hesitation.

Joking aside, he had plenty of secrets in his mind. If any leaked out, the entire Marvel universe would likely be turned upside down.

Look at Professor X, who, despite his strong character, went insane when he learned he was a comic book character. Jack didn't want the same thing to happen to the Ancient One.

"Well, at least I know I've forgotten something. It's not a total loss," Jack said, his head aching as he massaged his forehead with one hand, deep in thought.

From the Ancient One's words, it could be seen that performing Magic in his brain would likely reveal his memories. So, the question is, who sealed his memories?

The other party could only do so for two reasons: one, they were too powerful for him to resist; two, he willingly let them cast the spell.

The latter was almost impossible. So far, Jack had not met anyone he could open up to, except maybe Wanda.

Therefore, the former was the most likely possibility.

This meant that he couldn't lift the memory seal yet. He wasn't strong enough to do so alone. If he tried, the other party might notice, and he couldn't confirm whether they were friends or foes. It was better not to act rashly.

"Never mind. Let's put this matter aside for now, whether it's fate or timeline," Jack said. "I came to see you mainly for a favor."

"Is it about that child?" The Ancient One seemed to know everything, and instead of surprise, she twitched her brow with concern. "The power of the Scarlet Witch is indeed difficult to deal with. Her power could attract unwanted attention even if she has not fully awakened."

Jack nodded. "Yes, Mephisto is just one of them. Although she is on Earth and will be safe under your protection, there will always be hidden dangers. This kind of power is too powerful."

The Ancient One nodded in agreement.

The Chaos Magic is the most powerful Magic in the multiverse. Once it explodes, the entire Earth is likely to suffer.

"I want to ask you to teach Wanda how to control this power," Jack said sincerely. "I'm worried she will fall into darkness because of her past."

He remembered that in the comics, Wanda erased the existence of mutants with a single word. Although the movies may not be so exaggerated, with the appearance of Ghost Rider, Jack had to worry about Wanda's potential negative emotions.

He tried to provide Wanda with a warm family life, hoping to help her forget her past and slowly weaken or eliminate negative emotions in her soul.

He was confident that he could guide Wanda towards goodness, but when it comes to her power, he was helpless.

"It won't happen with you around!"

The Ancient One shook her head slowly in response to Jack's concern and smiled at him. "I have observed that child. I know what kind of person she is. Let me put it this way, as long as you are alive, Wanda's Chaos Magic will not run wild. You greatly underestimate your importance in her heart."

"..."

'Well, that's a bit embarrassing' Jack chuckled awkwardly. The way the Ancient One spoke made him feel like he was a fanboy of Wanda.

"Unfortunately, I don't have an answer when Chaos Magic fully awakens." Ancient One shook her head, looking troubled. Suddenly, she reached into the void and pulled out a bracelet encrusted with a transparent crystal, handing it to Jack.

"However, we can take some precautions. Give this to her to wear. It will automatically absorb any accidental release of her Chaos Magic, so that it won't be detected by anyone. It should be enough by the time she power fully wakes up."

After observing the bracelet for a moment, Jack nodded in approval. The design was good, and it was also quite beautiful. He believed that Wanda would like it.

"Thank you, Ancient One," he expressed his sincere gratitude to the Ancient One. The latter had helped him twice.

"I should probably go back now. Johnny is still lying out in the village," he said.

"Indeed," replied the Ancient One.

.....

San Venganza Town

Jack steps out of teleportation and looks inside.

"So, how do I contact you if I need to?"

"If you need to contact me, I will know," nods the Ancient One, closing the portal.

Jack turns around after the portal closes, only to realize that Johnny, who was lying here earlier, is nowhere to be seen.

He looks around, but there's no sign of him. Assuming that as the Ghost Rider, he should be fine, Jack opens the portal and heads back home.

When he arrives home, it's already past two in the morning. Jack can't sleep, so he takes a refreshing shower, sits on the living room couch, and turns on the TV.

Unfortunately, there isn't much on that he finds interesting. After a few minutes, he turns off the TV.

"This bracelet..."

Looking at the bracelet given by the Ancient One, Jack pondered for a moment. He looked around, got up stealthily, and went to Wanda's room.

'I'm definitely not here to do anything bad! I'm here to deliver a bracelet.'

He comforted himself in his mind and approached the door quietly. He cautiously turned the doorknob, and to his surprise, it opened!

Jack pushed the door open gently. Looking at the graceful figure on the bed, wrapped in a blanket and curled up, Jack felt a surge of emotions from the faint fragrance in the room.

He shook his head to force himself to calm down and slowly walked to the bedside, holding the bracelet in his hand.

Wanda slept peacefully, but her brows were slightly furrowed, her lips trembled, and her face hinted at fear. She seemed to be having a nightmare.

Jack couldn't help but feel sorry for her psychological trauma that still needed time to heal. Sorting out his thoughts, Jack gently took Wanda's hand out and put the bracelet on her wrist.

"It fits well."

Seeing that the bracelet fit perfectly, Jack smiled. Just as he was about to put his hand down, he raised his eyes and saw a pair of panicked and embarrassed eyes staring straight at him.

"Uh... I mean... I'm here to deliver a gift to you... do you believe me?"
