Chapter 231: Sentinels

In the previous movie, the abilities of the Sentinels were briefly mentioned to be based on Raven's shapeshifting genes.

They were able to change their states according to the abilities of their opponents.

However, Jack discovered that it wasn't that simple when he analyzed the Sentinel's atom energy.

The structure of the Sentinels was highly complicated, and it was impossible for them to evolve into their current version based only on Raven's genes.

Raven's genes were used as a beginning, but many other mutant genes were added and improved to make the final version of the Sentinel.

Although Jack didn't find information about the other mutant genes from the Sentinels, he could guess at least two of them besides Raven's gene.

The ability of the Sentinels to freely transform their states based on their opponents' abilities reminded Jack of someone he had almost forgotten - Darwin.

Darwin was the one who could adapt to different environments and attacks in the first battle.

The abilities of the Sentinels resembled Darwin's, showing a connection between them.

Darwin seemed to die in the first battle when he took in the energy that was forced into his mouth, but there were rumors that he recovered.

As for the other gene, it was none other than the infamous Black King, Sebastian Shaw.

Shaw had the ability to absorb energy, which was also clearly shown in the Sentinels. However, compared to Shaw, the Sentinels' energy absorption was clearly weaker.

After getting the information he wanted, Jack jumped off the wall without looking back and walked inside.

As he left, the previously stuck Sentinel disintegrated into dust, dissipating into the air.

This scene frightened Storm and the others, but they didn't panic.

"I have a question," He turned to Professor X.

"How many people are left in this world?"

Professor X sighed, shaking his head with a bitter smile.

"There aren't many left. Ordinary people can't resist the Sentinel robots. They either die or get captured and imprisoned all over the world. As for mutants... what you saw earlier was the only ones left."

Hearing this, Jack couldn't help but feel a heavy heart. The situation in this world was much worse than he had imagined.

"Can you tell me more about the Sentinel situation?" he asked.

Professor X's story helped him understand why the world had become like this.

At first, the Sentinels were made to stop mutants from hurting people, but it soon became clear that they did more than just that.

Behind the scenes, the Sentinels began hunting mutants on a large scale, and later even targeted ordinary people carrying mutant genes who hadn't awakened their abilities.

Mutants were massacred, and many ordinary people suffered the same fate.

People finally found out what the Sentinels were doing, but by then, it was almost too late to stop.

People who used to hate and fear mutants started to help them more and more.

Although there was growing resistance to the Sentinels from the general public, it did not work.

Those in charge saw mutants as a threat to their rule, which was enough for them.

However, some people seemed to have placed too much trust in the Sentinels.

They clearly hadn't watched enough Hollywood movies; otherwise, they wouldn't have truly believed that robots were absolutely safe.

One day, the Sentinels went crazy without warning.

The Sentinel robots, which were all over the world, got out of control and started killing people of different countries.

Soon, ninety percent of the countries could not do anything.

When the surviving humans realized that fighting the Sentinels was not going to work, they used their last option: nuclear weapons.

They attacked the manufacturing facilities of the Sentinels located around the world, hoping that the electromagnetic pulses generated by the nuclear explosions could disable these ruthless robots.

But their hopes were shattered. The Sentinels did not collapse. Instead, they built more factories on top of the old ones and kept sending Sentinels all over the world.

Humanity was defeated, and even the sky was covered in radiation caused by nuclear explosions.

The entire world fell into darkness.

Jack was amazed. This seemed like a movie of Terminator, except this time, it wasn't machines traveling through time but mutants.

What fascinated him was who was controlling all of this. Was it really the Sentinels gaining intelligence and rebelling against humanity?

He told Professor X about his doubts, thinking that he would get some answers.

He was shocked by the answer he got.

"Are you kidding me?"

Jack stared at Professor X in shock.

"You're saying that the one controlling all of this... is Bolivar Trask, who died back in 1973?"

This answer seemed even more ridiculous than the idea that Sentinels are gaining intelligence.

"I was surprised myself,"

Professor X spoke with a sad tone mixed with regret.

"It is just my guess. Once, while using Cerebro to look for survivors, I accidentally connected with Trask's thoughts. I even thought I was going crazy."

"Even though the connection did not last long—only a few seconds—before it was cut by force, I am sure it was Trask!"

Professor X's belief made Jack feel uneasy. Could it be that Trask did not really die?

As the most powerful telepath, Professor X probably would not make a mistake.

Could it be that Trask faked his death and went into hiding?

If it was him, It would explain why the Sentinels rebelled. As the original developer, He would have played a big part in every part of the Sentinels, even in the upgrades they got later on.

Understanding these possibilities, Jack could not help but be impressed by Trask's ability to hide for so long. Few people could do something like this.

Jack was curious about whether Trask truly came back to life or staged his death, so he decided to find him in person and get some answers.

With that thought in mind, his consciousness instantly spread out, enveloping the entire world.

The surface of the entire planet was within Jack's surveillance, giving him a firsthand understanding of the current situation between humans and mutants.

It is hard to find the right words to describe how awful it was.

Jack didn't consider himself a saint, but the images in his mind filled him with anger.

With a flicker of thought, in the next second, every Sentinel on Earth disintegrated, turning into dust bit by bit.

The Sentinel manufacturing facilities met the same fate, vanishing rapidly as if they had never existed!

Survivors witnessed this unbelievable turn of events. They could hardly believe their eyes as the demonic Sentinel disappeared in front of them.

But it didn't stop there.

In the next second, the endless dark clouds shrouding the entire sky rapidly dissipated.

When the first ray of sunlight broke through the clouds and brightened the faces of the survivors, a flame called hope started burning rapidly.

After completing all of this, Jack paused because he discovered a small problem.

Bolivar Trask was not on Earth.
