Meeting!

" Where are you going, Hal? Are you leaving?"

Luna asked as Hal walked out of his and Crystal's home on Attilan.

" Oh, sorry Luna, I thought you were still sleep. So, I didn't want to wake you. Yeah. I'm heading to Earth to get one of the new Lanterns."

Hal explained to the young girl.

" Does mommy know?"

Luna asked.

" Luna, I tell your mother everything. A keynote many men should learn. A happy wife a happy life."

Hal said to the girl.

" You're smarter than most men, Hal. Be safe okay."

Luna said to the man making him laugh.

Hal picked the small girl up and hugged her tightly.

" Don't you worry, Luna. I'll be back with you and mommy in no time. Until then I'm counting on you to hold down the fort."

Hal said to the young girl.

" Okay. Bye Hal."

Luna said to the man before hopping out of his arms and running into her mom's room.

Hal smiled at the small girl and exited his house shortly after.

" Alright, kid. Let's see what kind of damage you've done while we've been fighting a war."

Hal said to himself before flying off into space.

Hal covered the distance between Earth and Hala in a matter of hours and upon arriving on earth he couldn't help but smile at the place he once called home.

" Gotta say it's nice to see earth again. But Attilan feels more like home now than anywhere else now."

Hal said to himself as he entered Earth's atmosphere.

" Halt! Invader!"

Suddenly a Brolic voice called out for Hal to stop in his tracks

Hal turned to see himself being hailed by Thor odinson God of thunder, and the avengers.

" What is your business here on earth?"

Steve asked the man as he stood on the edge of his ship with the others beside him.

" Uh, do you not know what I am?"

Hal asked the man. He was confused as to why they didn't know what a green lantern was due to the fact that Kyle was supposedly working earth right now.

" Yeah, we know what you are. Someone dressed just like you has been running around. But we aren't asking about him. We're asking about you."

Ironman explained to Hal.

" Well, my "Friend" is the only other member of Green Lantern Corps. So, I figured I'd see how he was doing and train him if he needed it. I didn't come here looking for trouble, that I can assure you. I doubt Medusa would be happy if the Prince of the Inhumans got arrested."

Hal threw out Medusa's name in an attempt to use his connection with the Inhumans to take some of the pressure off of him.

The avengers eyes widened under the name drop of Medusa and him being the Inhuman prince.

" I see, then there should be no problems with you coming to visit one of your men. Just don't cause any havoc that we'll have to clean up."

Steve said to the man as he gestured for the Avengers to stand down.

" Thanks, Captain. Now, that that's out of the way. Has anyone actually seen, the kid?"

Hal asked the group.

" Kyle usually only shows up when there's trouble."

Janet said to the man in a way that seemed odd.

Hal looked over the Avengers and noticed that yellow jacket seemed a little agitated. But chose to ignore it.

" Well, I'll try calling him. Let's see if he shows up."

Hal said as he concentrated, he sent out a verbal message for Kyle to meet him at his current coordinates.

After sending the message, Hal was approached by Tony who had started pestering him with questions on how the ring worked and how much it would cost for him to sell it to him.

" Look, for the hundredth time the ring isn't up for sale. Only those chosen by the ring can use it. Otherwise, it's just a ring."

Hal explained to the man for the hundredth time.

" Oh, come on don't be like that. I'm sure after taking it apart I can figure out how it works, then I can mass produce them."

Tony explained to the man.

" Yeah, I'm not sure that's how it worked. And even if it did the central power batter would need to be much brighter before the rings would be able to work."

Hal explained to the man.

Tony had tried arguing his case once again, but the two were interrupted by the arrival of Kyle Rayner.

" Kyle Rayner, reporting for duty sir."

Kyle saluted Hal as he floated in front of him.

" At ease soldier. Seriously, you don't need to call me sir, the name's Hal. Hal Jordan. And you're it!"

Hal said to the man before hitting him in the face with a hard beam of green light.

" Hey! I thought you were here to help him!"

Captain Marvel asked the man in shock.

Hal ignored the avengers and pursed his attack on Kyle.

The avengers moved to help Kyle, but were stopped by Thor and Captain America.

" Uh what are you guys doing?"

Tony asked.

" Just watch."

Thor replied.

" You gonna, just avoid me Kyle? Are you sure you're a Lantern?"

Hal asked as he chased after Kyle, pursuing him through the skies of New York.

Hal continued firing miniature bullets of light at the man.

Kyle himself created constructs to protect him but they were shattered instantly by Hal's weakest projectiles.

" Come on kid, are you going to run away the entire time? Are you going to run away from bad guys like this? I hope not."

Hal said to the man.

" Easy for you to say. I've only been doing this for a few months. You've been at this a lot longer than I have."

Kyle replied as he continued dodging bullet fire.

" What? Kid I had my ring for only two weeks when I joined in an intergalactic war. What's your excuse? I thought you wanted to make a difference. You were chosen by the ring for your will power kid and yet I'm shattering your constructs with ease."

Hal explained to Kyle.

Kyle turned in the air and fired a beam back at Hal,

" Whoa! That's more like it kid. That's what I want to see."

Hal said to the man as he continued dodging fire.

Kyle then formed a minigun in his hands and started returning fire for the first time since their fight began.

" That's it! Be confident when facing a stronger opponent. But don't just try and brute force me kid, as you said I've been at this longer. You gotta get creative, Kyle use the environment. And above all else use your imagination."

Hal drilled the man.

Hal stuck his arm out and created a shield blocking the bullets and threw a spear at the man.

' Heh! Get creative? You douche I'll show you creative.'

Kyle thought to himself.

He turned in the air and started flying again.

" This again? Didn't you learn the first time?"

Hal asked as he followed behind Kyle.

Hal followed the man as he flew through the many alleys of the city chasing as slowly as possible without losing him.

" Heh, guess the earth won't have a Lantern after all."

Hal taunted the man.

After having flown through the same Alley way twice. Hal decided enough was enough and that he was going to end the chase. But what happened next even he didn't participate.

As Hal, was closing in on Kyle, Kyle suddenly flew low drawing Hal's attention with him. With his attention diverted, Hal didn't see the tripwire Kyle had planted the first time around. Hal was suddenly clotheslined and knocked into the alley below.

Kyle sensing his opportunity to attack landed on top of the man and pointed his ring in the man's face.

" Creative enough for you, jackass?"

Kyle asked the man.

Hal smiled at the man and gestured for him to look behind him.

Kyle turned and saw a giant mech aiming guns right at him. He turned sn smirked at Hal as he put his hands up in defeat.

" Good job, kid You did pretty good. And you used your head you listened! I'm glad to see earth is in good hands."

Hal said to the man as he got to his feet.

" So, what? This was a test?"

Kyle asked the man.

" Yeah, I wanted to see if the first Lantern to corps other than me could be counted on to keep the earth safe. Seeing as how you'll be my go-to guy on earth from now on. Had to make sure I wasn't leaving you to be slaughtered. Untrained and defenseless. Wouldn't be able to live with myself if I let anything happen to you and I didn't at least make sure you could defend yourself."

Hal explained to the man

" Uh, thanks Hal, but what do you mean go-to guy on earth? Aren't you the green lantern of earth?"

Kyle asked.

" Yeah, one of them. But I'm needed out in space more than I am on earth. If any Lanterns from other races show up, they'll need someone to show them the ropes. Guess since I was the first one it fell on me to keep you guys alive and trained."

Hal said to the man.

" And?"

Kyle asked again.

" And you passed, kid."

Hal replied.

Kyle jumped up in excitement and cheered over his passing performance.

" So, what happens now?"

Kyle asked.

" Now, I'm going to return to my wife and stepdaughter. You are going to continue working as a lantern on earth, alone. It's all right to make friends with the super-hero teams but don't join any of them. Trust me kid it only gets harder to do your job if you do."

Hal explained to the man.

Kyle nodded and Hal began to fly up. However, before he left he turned back to Kyle one more time.

" Oh, and Kyle do me a favor. If you get the chance, I want you to help the X-men out. Specifically this one."

Hal said to the man, he then pulled up an image of Captain Atom.

" He's a good friend of mine. I don't know if he's on earth yet or not. But the last time I talked to him. He and his friends said they were going to come here."

Hal explained to the man.

" I'll do my best."

Kyle replied.

" That's all I'll ever ask ya."

Hal said to the man. He waved at Kyle one last time and flew back off into space, leaving earth in the man's capable hands.
