Lucas finished his breakfast and putting the bowl back on the tray, he walked towards Leya and kissed her cheek.
"Thank you for the meal, mom."
He left to go to his room after saying so.
Lucy finished her breakfast as well and left for her room after thanking and kissing Leya on the other cheek.
Leya looked at the two leave and with an awkward smile, she said, "I am happy that they love me and the meals I cook for them, but…"
She wiped her cheeks with a cloth and continued, "at least wipe your mouth before kissing mama."
Lucas reached his room and changed his clothes. He wore simple black slacks, black shoes, a white shirt and a belt that had a place for his sword to be held.
"Time to go meet that dragon." Lucas said with a determined gaze.
He walked out of his room and saw his mother still sitting in the living room.
He walked close to her and said, "mom, I am going out. I'll be back by uhh… tomorrow?"
"What!?" Leya got up and said in shock. He would be out for a whole day?
"Eh?" Lucas wondered why his mom seemed so shocked.
"You'll be out for the whole day?" Leya got close to Lucas and said while checking him out.
"Yeah?" Lucas replied.
"The night as well?" Leya asked again but keeping her check continued.
"Yes, maybe. But why are you checking me out like that, mom?"
Leya stopped checking him out and said, "just looking if there was something wrong with you that is making you stay the whole night out."
"What would be wrong with me?" Lucas asked, not understanding his mother's concern.
Leya held Lucas's face and looked him in the eyes. "Did you forget that monsters roam wild at night?"
Lucas knitted his brows. "I know they do but there's so few monsters out there, mom. I'll be fine."
Leya looked at him seriously and said, "my baby, we live close to other humans and in the middle of other human kingdoms. Mama has also ensured to clear out any monsters present near our house. It's for that reason that you don't see any. But, if you don't see it doesn't mean there aren't any. Do you get what I am saying?"
Lucas sighed hearing this. He finally understood why his mother was so concerned.
In the tensura world, monsters ran wild everywhere and they were so powerful, many humans were needed to defeat them. The humans also stayed close together for this reason.
He turned his head and kissed Leya's palm. He then held her hands and said looking up at her, "mom, nothing will happen to me. I'll be back in one piece."
"I am not your weak Lucas anymore, am I? I have grown up and I need to venture out. If I don't, I won't be able to grow and be stronger. I need to get stronger so that we can all leave this village and live a lavish life and also so that I can protect you and big sis."
Leya got a bit emotional as she heard this. She shook her head and said, "baby, you don't need to. This is a good place. The rich life is not as good as you think it is. You also don't need to think of protecting us since mama can take care of that."
Lucas sighed and said, "mom, I wanna get stronger. Please, don't stop me."
Leya hugged Lucas and said, "mama only has one son, Lucas. Please understand her concerns."
Lucas rubbed Leya's back and said, "I understand, mama. I very well do. But this is a cruel world where it's kill or get killed. Only the strong survive. So… please don't stop me, mama."
Leya didn't say anything to Lucas and simply hugged him. Of course she knew how the world was. She had been here for longer than both of her children's ages combined.
Leya let go of Lucas and wiped the tears off of her face. She held his shoulders and said, "fine. Mama won't stop you from doing what you want. But I won't allow you to venture out in the night from today itself. We'll take it slow. First you'll spend the whole day outside, then a few hours in the night, then a whole night, and then two days…"
"If you promise mama to take it slow like this, only then will I allow you. What do you say?"
Lucas hadn't been out for more than a few hours before. Him suddenly asking to be out for a whole night was not acceptable by Leya. There were a lot of risks. Thus, she wanted to have him adapt to things first and then venture out to wherever he wanted.
Lucas nodded his head. "I'll do as mama says and I promise as well."
It was better than nothing. If he refuses, his mother won't allow him to go out.
He could rebel and still go out if he wanted, but he didn't want to hurt his mother even in the slightest. He loved her and he would never hurt her.
Leya's mood became slightly better and she hugged him once again.
Lucy walked out of her room at this moment and saw her mother hugging her brother. She walked towards them and joined in the hug, despite not knowing why they were doing it.
Leya or Lucas obviously didn't reject her and the three did a group hug together.
Lucas let go of them and walked towards the entrance of the house. "I'll be near the lake, fishing, mom. Come there whenever you want. We'll get started from today itself."
"What are you two starting?" Lucy asked Leya after Lucas left.
Leya smiled and patted Lucy's head. "Lucas's training. He's been slacking too much and is unlike you who trains diligently everyday."
"Oh, I see. Good luck training him then, mom." Lucy said and walked towards the backyard of their house to train.
Leya sighed after the two left and rubbing her temples, she said softly, "do I need to return to adventuring again?"
