Chapter Eight
I had gotten to Dortmund Last night and I am currently headed to my meeting location to meet up with Lewandowski and his agent to discuss him joining up with Manchester United before approaching the club formally while what I am doing is frowned upon it doesn't mean it isn't done by some clubs.
Lewandowski's transfer in his previous life was complicated and left Lewandowski tagged a traitor as the club got nothing for him while he transferred to their fierce rivals it was considered by some as one of the worst transfers to ever take place and he could understand such sentiment but Bayern also played a hand in how the deal played out because they backed out of what was basically a done deal and while Lewandowski was willing to stay at the club he couldn't reach an agreement with Dortmund to stay at the club. He hoped to exploit this
I arrived at the meeting place and seated in the cafe was Lewandowski and his agent I walked in and they both looked up at me they stood up I shook hands with both men and took a seat
"I am sorry for arriving late I hope you have not been waiting for long" I apologized for my tardiness
"it's nothing we haven't been here for long" we ordered coffee and made some small talk before deciding to get to what brought us here
"I would like to introduce you to Manchester United as a one of our players" I offered him
"While I would like to I feel like I can still achieve a lot here" he countered
" I understand you have an agreement with Bayern" I informed him and he was surprised I had such information he glanced at his agent and he shook his head
"while joining Bayern is a better prospect than Dortmund I doubt it is much more attractive than joining United. The Premier League is the most popular league in world football and we are the biggest team in the competition and one of the best in the world we have the ability to propel you to greater heights than Bayern does and all you have to do is agree to join us" I offered
"your offer sounds attractive but you currently have a handful of strikers at the club" he looked ready to accept but wanted to get promises on his importance to the club
"Both Rooney and Van persie are getting old and we have plans of letting Van persie go this season so it will be just you and Rooney fighting for a main position while I can't guarantee your game time since I am not the coach I can say that down the line you will be arguably the most important player for us besides you'll have a better chance winning the Ballon d'or with us than with Bayern" Lewandowski and his agent spoke amongst themselves before reaching an agreement
"Provided you can reach an agreement with the club I will be willing to join your team" we stood up and shook hands before departing
That same day I reached an agreement with Dortmund for the purchase of Lewandowski for a transfer fee of £ 15 million plus Van Persie. He signed a contract the following day and he was officially a Manchester United player
