Chapter 30: Tornado

Upon remembering Josh answer earlier on Rico's lecture, Krizel asked with confusion on her face, "Hey Josh… You've gotten your spells? But, I haven't seen you use one in our practice?"

Josh had a momentarily surprised and a little touch of guilt look on his face after remembering what Rico said.

'But, I don't have wind spells, rather… null spells, drain and erase…' Josh thought.

"You have the wind element, right? A skipper... So you're really talented huh… Well, it makes sense since you entered this academy without any brains to match up for it…"

"… I guess so," Josh said guiltily.

"You know, my aunt is one the examiners that held the entrance exam for magic academy… They actually use a treasure, the Clear Stone."

"Oh! What it does?" Josh said now intrigued.

"You know how the students are quite far from each other in the exam venue? Well, the Clear Stone actually shines in blue, and its brightness increase depending on the magic presence reserve of the person or beast near it."

"But… won't it just reflect your aunt's reserve?"

"Ahh… well, no. She's an evolved magician. So, she can pretty much hide her magic presence reserve from such treasures."

"Whooaa… How??"

"I don't know… maybe because… her body is one with her magic presence reserve?"

"One with what?"

"Well… I'm not sure too, maybe Sir Luigi will discuss it, or not, since it's an evolved element topic…"

"Ohhh, I hope he does…"

"Wait Josh, aren't we talking about your wind element? I wanna see it! I'll go to the control tube to prepare the robot dummies."

Josh now stood in the middle of the training room they were at. Five robot dummies are in front of him with a modification of fiber bristles in their body that Krizel added.

"Hey Josh! I added those hairy fibers so we can see your wind spells' intensity! You can start now!" Krizel shouted from the control tube.

'What to do? I really have no wind spells…'

'That Mimic...'

'That dream earlier…'

'Can I use it?'

'But, in that dream, I mimicked water element from a girl with blurred face… and blue hair, just like Matilda…'

'But, wind element? Do I know anyone with wind elem-'

'Right, he has… Father's starter wind spells… Winged foot… Tornado… Just like a dream from I was young… To have wind element just like father…'

Josh, with a hint of sadness in his voice, said, "Mimic."

The snake-like mark in Josh's left chest, underneath his shirt, changed color from gray to violet.

"Mimic?" Krizel heard Josh and looked at him perplexedly.

"Tornado"

Suddenly, a fluctuation in the air appeared in the room.

Gusts of wind seemed to brush off the dummies' hair-like bristles.

Then, without warning, its intensity increased. The bristles swayed rapidly and some even got torn off from the dummies.

*Creak!* *Creak!*

Sounds of metals creaking started to be produced from the robots. The screws attaching the robots to the metallic platform seemed to loosen.

Finally, one robot has all of its screws loose, one robot flew and,

*BOOM!*

The robot smashed into the metallic blue ceiling of the training room.

"Josh! Stop! Stop!" Krizel said while fumbling through buttons to stabilize the air pressure in the room.

"Huh?" Josh with his head bowed to the ground due to the sudden sadness he is feeling, slowly looked at his front only to see a huge tornado encircling the robots.

"Huh!?"

'Why is there a tornado here?'

"Cancel it! Cancel it!" Krizel shouted.

Josh, now waking up from his reverie, noticed that he was unconsciously pouring mana to his mark.

He slowly reduced the mana he poured making the tornado also exhaust slowly since no mana is powering it.

"I really used tornado… with mimic…" Josh muttered inaudibly.

"Wooo…" Krizel sighed, then continued, "You know… Maybe you're really talented… at causing trouble… Is your mark at your butt? The first time we had the practice, the room suddenly broke out of nowhere… Now, since your control is not yet good, you poured too much mana into it, almost triggering the alarm too…"

"… I-I'm sorry." Josh said awkwardly.

"… I'm sorry too for suddenly lashing out at you... I think I've got a little trauma from before. Well, anyway. Your spell is cool!" Krizel said with a happy smile on her face.

"… hehe. Thank you… I guess…" Josh said while looking at the sidewall, avoiding Krizel's proud gaze.
