Marco has left Cora's room to leave her to her thoughts only a few hours ago he'd called a meeting with his men this had to be done as subtle as possible so no one knew what they were about to do. 'You wanted to see us sir?'
'I did. Please sit.'
Everyone sat on the office one of two the biggest of both it was like a class room fitting all thirty of his men in it. 'I've spoken to Cora she's a little on edge and scared we need to make her feel safe from all threats by threats I am talking about Nicolo and Domienico Russo. I am not sure of all the details she still scared and I fear she has no trust in us, so we need to tread carefully that means you Daniele you scared the living shit out of her. with your bull shit. I don't want to hear that you've been upsetting her again.'
'I won't sir.'
'Good. Back to business. I want you to contact all of the hospitals in Italy, but be careful walls have ears as we all well know.'
'What's all this about sir?'
'Upon Cora's request I want to help her find her father.'
'Are you crazy Marco, or are you completely insane that fuck head owns Italy he knows everything.'
'He won't if we're carful all we need is their dna and hers to find out which ass hole got my little sister pregnant. I hope none of you go against me on this or I will shoot you dead are we all understood.'
'Sir.'
'I will see you all at dinner.'
They all left the room. He looked at Daniele. 'I want yo to take care of Cora,'
'Are you sure sir? She fucking hates me after..'
'I do. I see this as a great bonding experience for you both. I trust you Daniele she is my niece and you'll treat her with the up most respect and she knows that you were only doing your job.'
'What happens once we find out the truth?'
'Then they are dead.' He looked at Daniele. 'I need to know you'll see this contract though.'
'I am an assassin sir I always see my contracts through.'
'Glad to hear it you may go.'
He bowed his head walking out of the office closing the door behind him. Marco eases himself back into his chair once Cora had found her truth those bastards would be dead and his sister would be back where she belonged.
Everyone had dinner Cora sat quietly she never asked questions during dinner she had been told it was rude by her mother talk was for before and after dinner. She had excused herself and had gone to her room and lay in the bed she stared at the ceiling, her memories folding around her she remembered those two bastards keeping her and her and her mother under lock and key not letting her out of there and demanding a paternity test. Which she refused blatantly over and over again, until one day she finally found away to escape, she'd managed to drug all of their men after stumbling on the draw full of drugs, she wasn't sure what they were but they couldn't've been good. She'd laced their drinks waiting for them to go into a deep sleep before grabbing Cora and their baggage never looking back but after five long years they had found them.
He steeped into the room she hadn't even heard him knock. 'Good evening sweetheart.' He said closing the door. 'You were quiet at dinner is everything okay?'
She looked at him breaking away from the thoughts of her past. 'I was taught it was rude to engage in conversation over the dinner table.'
'May I?'
'Knock yourself out.'
He smiled walking over to the bed laying beside her. 'We were all worried about you sweetheart.'
'You have no need to be.'
'I'm sorry for everything.'
'Why you were just doing you job. And throwing insults and threats at people is your job.'
'It is.' He admitted. 'Still I shouldn't've scared you.'
'Who said I was scared?' She questioned.'
'Your eyes did sweetheart.' He looked at her. 'I promise to be on my best behaviour from now on.'
'Who rattled your cage?'
'Marco. He wants us to bond.'
She laughed. 'And why would we do that?'
'Because he's asked me to take care of you sweetheart.'
She looked shocked at his proclamation. 'Why? You don't even like me?'
'I guess he thinks you'll grow on me' He smiled, winking.
'What ever. You'll never grow on me. No matter how you try and suck up to me.'
'Did your mother ever tell you your mouth will get you in trouble?'
'No. Everyone else did.'
'I'm sorry that was uncalled for.'
'Yes it was. I shouldn't be here in Italy.'
'Why.'
'I'm surprised Marco hasn't already filled you in?'
'No he hasn't.'
'My estranged father lives over here. This is the place I ran from five years ago, five years ago my mother told me to forget she ever existed so I did and moved far far away to start again. Until you took me from the place I loved the most.'
'I'm sorry sweetheart they were my orders.'
'I'm not safe here. I'm not even sure what he will do to me if he finds me.'
He placed his arm around her pulling her close to him. 'You are safe sweetheart.'
'Why if he tries to kill me?'
'Then I will take a bullet for you.'
'Why you don't even like me?'
'I will always protect you and I will always take a bullet for you now hush.'
She lay her head on his chest slowly closing her eyes she had no idea why she felt so safe with him after everything.
