Chapter 22

Chen Dulan looked awkwardly around, as Madam Yao refused to leave, and didn't allow him to leave either. He was not comfortable in the room.

"Madam... where is Young Master." He asked, not finding anything else to speak of.

"In his room, hopefully studying for his exams. Unlike some people, he actually has a normal life. He shouldn't be wasting time on useless things." So drinking in a 'karaoke' with a girlfriend much older than him, was apparently useful to do. Chen Dulan really didn't know why Feng Huali felt so bothersome to him these days.

"Please permit me to leave, Madam. I have been imposing for too long."

"I actually had to ask you about something." Madam Yao shifted from her earlier position and looked straight into his eyes. "What are you doing about 'Azure'?"

Chen Dulan hadn't made any progress. He used to finish difficult tasks in half the time, and now he was getting more and more useless. Yao Jianguo would be disappointed in him. The drug wasn't even being sold for much, as if the perpetrator's only intent was to scandalize MinYao's business as cheap and harmful, even short-sighted.

"I was planning to take action tonight... but since that didn't work out, I'll need another week. The guy is sneaky, I haven't been able to find his face yet."

"You've done some research it seems. I've looked into the matter too, as it seems to be the jab of foreign organization. MinYao was even targeted by the military. A big ammunition supply was stopped, the information was leaked." Chen Dulan's eyes widened. When had that happened? Crap, he didn't have a T.V.

"This... this isn't good. I need to be in C City right now..."

Yao Fang had waited in his room for too long. Was Chen Dulan really not waking up yet? His thoughts were laced with concern, if the injury was more severe. He decided to check up on him once, but noticed his mother was still inside the room. He heard that his mother was speaking to Chen Dulan about something serious.

"It's not safe there yet, it's better you're in hiding. Our ally, Azure has gone silent in these years, do you think he's sided with the enemy..." Madam Yao trailed off.

"No!" His volume got higher, but he controlled himself quickly. "I apologize... I really just need to be by Young Master Jianguo's side... My men might get slaughtered before I make it back after this job..." Chen Dulan frowned. Yao Fang heard from outside the room, he was shocked to hear Chen Dulan's voice tremble with emotions. He had never heard him be so vulnerable, because Chen Dulan only frowned, and rarely smiled.

"I don't see why you put so much faith in Azure. The drug business might be his way of cutting ties with MinYao. Why would he stop being active right when we need him?" 'Who was this Azure?' Yao Fang thought. Was he someone important?

"Madam... please believe in him, he's your ally... he's always on MinYao's side."

"What is so secretive about him? Chen Dulan, do you think you can hide things from me? I can accept if my husband and my older son know of such an important information, but who are you to hide from me?" Chen Dulan now understood why he wasn't allowed to go back sooner. Madam Yao had only wanted to interrogate him. She was quite similar to Yao Fang in that aspect, to put the frustrations from her family onto him. Except, this woman was too powerful to be declined to.

"Madam, I cannot give you confidential details without Boss's permission. He only wants to protect you and Young Master. He only refuses to share that one detail with you, please trust his instincts to protect you." Chen Dulan felt frustrated at the lack of trust in him. He wasn't a part of their family, and yet he was asked to reassure them upon meeting them, to take their wrath if need be.

Yao Fang heard and thought hard. What if his father was... no that couldn't be...
