"Why? Am I not allowed to come?" Winter retorted. "This is Goldmine Realty, my husband's office."
Sebastian was a little flattered when Winter addressed this office as her 'husband's office.'
Because it meant she still had him in her heart, even if it was filled with hatred.
'Maybe we reunited at the wrong time. Her heart must've been filled with so much sadness last night, so she gets angry and snappy at me,' Sebastian told himself, though he barely believed his words. 'Maybe there is a chance for us to mend our relationship if I start treating her right from now on.'
Sebastian's heartfelt warmth as it had been showered with a hope to reconcile with his wife, but Winter felt nothing but coldness in her heart.
Winter also didn't lie because what she referred to as husband wasn't Sebastian Saenz.
Her husband was Aiden Kirk, and this was still her husband's office. The man who sat at the CEO's desk right now was just a cheap replacement for him.
"No, that's not what I mean," Sebastian tried to soften his voice because he knew he tended to sound harsh to anyone, including his fragile wife. "I'm just surprised by your sudden visit. You could've told me, and I would've picked you up at the penthouse or waited for you in the lobby."
Sebastian smiled warmly at Winter, hoping she believed his sincerity.
But only Winter knew how many frivolous words this man had said to appease her. Unfortunately, she had been stupid enough to believe everything, thinking that Sebastian had truly loved her.
'Old habit dies hard, I guess,' Winter thought. 'I know he doesn't mean any of that. The kindest thing he would do is to send Iris to pick me up at the lobby, and that's it.'
Sebastian grew a bit anxious when Winter didn't respond. He stood up and walked towards her.
Sebastian stood in front of her, still with such a warm and welcoming smile. "Did you have your lunch already? How about we have lunch together?"
Winter stared back at Sebastian.
She tried to maintain her politeness in front of her second husband. But seeing his face always incited rage in her heart because this man had taken everything from her, even though this version of him hadn't done anything to hurt her yet.
But that face…
If only she hadn't fallen in love with that handsome face back then.
"I'm not hungry," Winter replied truthfully. She hadn't felt hunger since last night because her heart was filled with grief, to the point that hunger was a minuscule problem.
"Oh… then what are you here for? Are you here just to visit me?" Sebastian asked with an innocent gaze, which only angered her even more.
Winter couldn't hide her displeasure anymore. She scoffed at his hypocrisy.
This bastard thought that Winter still had an ounce of love for him after everything he did.
If only he were the same man who had pushed her to suicide in her previous life, she'd slap him immediately for being so fucking shameless.
Unfortunately, this version of Sebastian was still innocent… for now.
"Let's stop this charade, Sebastian," Winter said sharply. "I know you don't want me to come in here, but this company is still under my name, so I can come and go as I please."
The smile on Sebastian's face vanished instantly, and he felt that his heart had been doused with cold water.
For a brief moment, he genuinely thought that Winter wanted to reconcile, so he allowed his true feelings to show.
Now, it only made him feel stupid because he showed his vulnerability to a wife who absolutely hated his guts.
His heart was aching to see the disgust on Winter's face, but he maintained his cold attitude as he didn't want Winter to know that he was the same Sebastian Saenz who pushed her to her demise in the previous life.
"Then, I will not be so kind. What do you want to do? Don't you see that I have documents swamped on my desk?" Sebastian said, his tone as cold as ever, just like what the 'usual' Sebastian would do when he got pissed off.
"Nothing much. I'm just here for a visit. I want to know if you've been working hard in MY company," Winter replied, emphasizing her ownership.
"You don't need to remind me twice. I know Goldmine Realty is under your name," Sebastian said.
"Good that you understand," Winter grinned as if to intimidate him, but she was actually the one who got intimidated instead because she got scared whenever Sebastian looked at her with such a condescending gaze.
She sidestepped and walked past him, not wanting to show her fear in front of him. She walked around the office and said, "Back when Aiden was still alive, I often visited this office. I remember everything in this room, down to the furniture."
"I'm glad that you haven't changed anything, Sebastian. Because we should remember the true owner of the company, right?" Winter remarked before she grabbed the gold nameplate on the desk and waved it when Sebastian turned around to face her again. "Except this. It used to be Aiden Kirk, not Sebastian Saenz."
Sebastian scoffed, seeing that Winter was trying to provoke him. "So what? I don't care if it once belonged to Aiden. I am the current CEO and that won't change even if we get a divorce."
