CHAPTER 3

Parking in front of the reserved lot of the funeral home, the three of you step out of the vehicle.

Eyes were staring hard—especially at the two men of the group of seven.

Yoongi pulled his pair of shades from his slacks, resting them over his eyes. You could tell that Yoongi was a little embarrassed to be seen by all these people.

Namjoon made a path to the door with you and Yoongi going in after him. Security was already waiting in there, watching to make sure everything ran smoothly.

The leader's eyes wandered as he entered into the wake area, seeing the rest of the group already present.

Starting towards the front to greet them, Namjoon was suddenly stopped by a hand firmly gripping his shoulder. His eyes matched the hand to the face, seeing that it was Taehyung. "You guys made it."

Namjoon paused before responding. "Yeah." They gave each other a brotherly hug. "Yoongi and (Y/N) are coming in right now."

Taehyung followed the direction Namjoon pointed in, seeing that Yoongi was definitely on his way in.

The rest of the group saw Namjoon standing at the end of their row. They all then glanced back to see where Yoongi was.

The 5'9 man wore his shades and did not plan on taking them off any time soon.

Going up to the front, Yoongi noticed the coffin that was displayed, there lying the close friend whom he had recently lost.

His companions stood up, each greeting him dotefully.

Yoongi's eyes lingered as his thoughts trailed despite the amount of men giving him their condolences.

You stood at the back of the room, wanting to give them their space.

"Sad isn't it?" A woman steps next to you.

From the corner of your eye, you can see her well put-together makeup and hair that was also in a low bun like yours. Except, hers looked more eloquent than your half-assed attempt.

And speaking of hair—

S—! You cursed internally.

You hastily tear the satin scarf from your head. Now all you can think about is everyone looking at you weird for wearing a cheetah print head tie to a black attire event.

Internally you kept repeating, kill me now!

"Min Ah was such a good friend to him…" You've totally forgotten about the woman standing next to you.

"He was, huh…?" You chimed in.

Yoongi's eyes caught yours, startling you a little. Although his shades were on, you just knew that he was looking directly at you.

You wanted to sit up there with the boys. But you likewise recognized that you had no place sitting up there with the Bangtan men.

You've successfully hurt your own feelings.

Before you could glance away, Jimin turned around in his seat to wave at you.

It was no surprise that Jimin is a sweetheart. He motions for you to come to the front to greet the others.

"Oh, lucky you." The woman scoffed.

You give her a questioning glare as you make your way towards him.

Embracing, Jimin gives you a kiss on the forehead. "Why are you standing back there?"

Flustered, you tried your best to put your words together. "I don't want to be a distraction…it's you guys, ya know? Everyone else will look at me funny since I'm nobody."

"Well you're somebody to us. Here," Taking your hand, Jimin leads you to a front row seat across from theirs.

Concerned, you ask, "What about the family coming?"

Jimin carried a blank expression. You wondered if you said something wrong.

"Uh…Yoongi was practically his family."

The news shocked you. You had no clue how close Yoongi was with this guy. But it made much more sense why the first set of front rows in each section were practically empty.

You look at Yoongi one last time. He was smiling ever so slightly. Slightly enough it felt as though only you noticed it.

The speaker soon came in, prompting everyone to sit in their respective seats. Yoongi sat at the opposite end, where he could see his deceased friend's face clearly. Namjoon took the seat in the middle as Jimin took the seat at the end of the row closest to you. However, no one sat by you in your row.

One of the attendants gave out the obituaries for Min Ah. You held the pamphlet with ease, reading through it. Some of the facts written surprised you. Who knew that Yoongi had friends such as these? But it wasn't far-fetched.

Just look at him.

After the conclusion of the speaker's speech, others were invited to say a few words of gratitude.

Very few people walked to the podium to give brief experiences about their relationship with Min Ah.

Afterwards, the moment you've been waiting for has now arrived.

Yoongi got up, straightening his suit jacket. Making his way onto the podium, Yoongi stood before everyone, awkwardly clasping the sides of the stand.

He then realized that it was too dark to see anyone.

Pulling off his shades, he rested them in his slacks and cleared his throat. Taking a deep breath, he began. "Hello, everyone."

For some reason you were fine until Yoongi went up there. You became on edge. You prayed that he didn't mess up his speech.

Impressively, Yoongi managed to get through his monologue. Except at the very end, he broke down in tears.

Jungkook quickly came by his side, patting his back.

You wanted to aid Yoongi too, but feared you would look stupid going up there. Jin then went up on the podium to rub Yoongi's back from his right side.

"I'm sorry." Yoongi choked through his tears.

You could hear everyone sniffling. The atmosphere was starting to overwhelm you too. Standing up, you rushed to the back of the room and into the hallways.

How could you? You thought to yourself. This isn't even your lost, and yet you ran off.

Seeing Yoongi fall apart like that broke your heart. You couldn't take seeing him like this.

Covering your eyes, you breathe staggered breaths, trying to calm yourself.

"(Y/N)?" Looking back with your swollen eyes, you see Jimin once again to the rescue. "Are you okay?"

The one thing you've always hated is when someone asks if you're okay when you're clearly not. It only encouraged the tears to flow.

Your eyes watered up, trickling down your cheeks. Nervously, you turned away to rub your eyes with your wrist, laughing. "I'm fine. I had a moment inside. It's too depressing."

"It is." Jimin sighed. "This must be a lot for you."

"Not as much as it is for Yoongi. I didn't know this guy." You expressed. "And seeing Yoongi crying like that is a lot to handle…I don't see him like that often, you know?"

"He's good at saving face huh?" Jimin whispered sheepishly.

You nodded.

Jimin pulls you into a bear hug. "Come here…"

Accepting his hug, you wrapped your arms around Jimin and sobbed as quietly as you could. You didn't care anymore about who saw you associating with him.

You could hear Yoongi saying thank you to the visitors before stepping off the platform.

Jimin lifted your chin to wipe your tears. It amazed you how empathetic he was.

"Let's go back inside, okay?"

You didn't want to, but only because Jimin was being such an awesome moral support system, you couldn't say no.

Just as the two of you were about to step through the door, Yoongi came bursting out, passing you.

It caught you off guard.

"Where are you going?" Jimin asked.

Namjoon then came out, with Hoseok following closely behind.

Yoongi left the building to stand in the parking lot.
