Chapter 46: Airplanes are Shooting Stars

"I miss Amelia," Hadley randomly said as he stood in the kitchen, refrigerator door open, pondering what to eat.

"Well, it's a good thing she is coming home today. We pick her up from the airport in two hours," said Shayla as she tousled his hair.

"Hey!"

"Sorry kiddo, had to."

The minute Evan's bloody jacket had arrived at her front door instead of him, Shayla had called Natalie's aunt Jessica in Florida to see if she could keep Amelia while she dealt with some personal family issues.

Jessica instantly agreed. She had been up to visit a couple of times during the adoption process of Amelia, and Amelia fell in love with her. She promised to one day have Amelia come visit and play on the beach.

Well, it had been time to come through on that promise. Amelia had been having so much fun in the sun and sand down south that Shayla decided to let her stay a bit longer while she got herself back together after Evan's capture.
