Chapter 21: New York, New York

Shayla

Shayla watched as the plane descended into the JKF Airport. Her stomach began to turn with nerves as she was about to meet the city for the first time.

She scanned the skyline and saw the abundance of buildings that touched the horizon. It was just stunning. Breathtaking in fact because she felt like she couldn't breathe.

"Shayla? Are you okay?" asked Gracie as she gently touched Shayla's arm.

Shayla zoned back in. "Yeah, I am okay. Just a lot to take in."

"I know. It took me forever to get used to this place when I lived here."

They both grabbed their carry-on luggage and headed towards the exit. The same blonde attendant guided them to where they needed to go and she sported the same intense smile as before.

Shayla wondered if that was a job requirement to be a flight attendant because as she looked over her shoulder at the others, they all had the exact same smile as the blonde.
