Chapter 16: Run Like the Wind

Shayla

After breakfast, Shayla and Evan parted ways for the day. Evan had a family gathering to attend and Shayla wanted to get a few things done on her day off as well.

She couldn't stop thinking about the morning though and with every thought, she just wanted Evan again and forever.

She went back home and found Natalie in the kitchen making some chocolate chip cookies for Hadley. The house smelled so good. They were always her and Hadley's favorites when they were growing up. No one ever made them as good as her mom, though.

"Good morning. How was breakfast?" Natalie asked. She smiled like she already knew there was a story Shayla needed to tell.

"It was fantastic. Best breakfast I had ever had."

"Oh? What did you have?" asked Natalie.

"Hadley, go watch TV in your room while the cookies bake," said Shayla.

"Aw, man. I wanted to stay out here and hear about your breakfast," Hadley said as he jumped down off the kitchen stool and headed down the hall to his room.
