Chapter forty-one – Let's get married

If someone had told Fredrick August a couple months back that he would be begging Stacey Brown to be his wife, he would laugh in the person's face. But, here he was, knots in his tummy, bile in his throat, because Stacey was reconsidering their marriage. He'd fallen in love with her… in the midst of all that bickering, and threats from Carina, his mother, Azrael… he'd fallen in love with Stacey Brown.

His palms were sweaty, and his legs felt numb as he watched her march up the stairs.

"I think we should call it a night." Henry stated, getting to his feet.

"Yes, we'll leave things be for now… until she's calm." Louisa added, picking her purse from the sofa.

"We'll see you out."

"Wait. I have to talk to Stacey."

"Fred, I don't think that's a good idea. You should let the anger dissipate first. You could call her in the morning."
