LUCIFER'S BANE

Part one of a two book series. The rules of the fallen are simple. Ten days. Ten days, you live without sin and you will be accepted back into heaven. It's just ten days, it shouldn't be that hard. Until the rules became applicable to fragile, innocent Azaliah who after an ambush, was thrown out of heaven by mistake and began her transition into a human. With her newly found emotions all over the place, the human family she lived with, a low ranked angel who swore to protect her, a mark on her shoulder that is a beacon for the darkness that ruled the earth, and her romantic feelings for the mysterious demon who helped her stay alive in exchange for his freedom, ten days suddenly felt like ten years. And with that came an epic battle for her soul as two ancient spirits came after her when the celestial world finds out that she is the weapon that can kill man and spirit's greatest enemy, Lucifer. Nb: part one mostly focuses on Lucifer as the main character. The main character for book two would be introduced towards the end of the book.

Lucifer watched amused as Adriel laid underneath Nahamani's new form. The latter was not generous enough to let her protect herself and occasionally, Lucifer would laugh at Adriel's attempt to cover her head. By his side, Gadreel fought off the angels that tried to protect Michael. As always, anyone that came too close to him found themselves in several parts of the arena with their bodies rearranged. Unlike the others, Lucifer did not act as though he was fighting against anyone. He was overly confident and he only took pleasure in watching the others suffer for his sake.

While the screams of angels beside him was like music to his ears, he watched Nahamani and Beth tower over Adriel's frame. A scoff escaped from lips when Adriel looked at him, pleading with her eyes for help. She should have known what she was getting into, she should have known he would do absolutely nothing to help her not after she had messed up.

He smirked at her in response and Adriel's shocked face was stamped in his head as he turned his back on her. He then focused on how Gadreel effortlessly disposed of the angels that came against him. Finally, he was acting like the angel he wanted, but still it didn't mean he would help if he ended up at the mercy of the enemies. Gadreel had used his broad back to hide Michael, his legs moved skillfully when he blocked the attacks. Lucifer gave a small smile.

"Finally, he stared at his former student. Michael had given up, he knew this because the angel had not made a move to defend himself or attack Gadreel even though it would have been easier for him seeing as the latter's back was turned to him, yet Michael only watched. Lucifer almost laughed at the show of weakness. He could not believe this was the angel he had wasted his time on.

Still he wanted Michael to fight. He wanted to watch Gadreel battle him and he wanted to see who would win. Because of this, he swiftly moved across the bodies that surrounded Gadreel and in seconds, golden dusts filled the air. Gadreel was angry and stunned that Lucifer had interfered He wanted his time to shine.

"Master, I had it covered". He said through gritted teeth. Lucifer did not reply him, instead he simply walked past him and crouched down beside Michael. Gadreel's frown deepened.

"Given up so soon?" Lucifer mocked. Michael took his eyes away from him and faced the sky in response. Lucifer laughed lightly.

"All those time I spent teaching you and you cannot even find a single ounce of strength. We haven't even done anything to you yet".

This time Michael stared back at him. His eyes did not burn with the fire of bravery and anger like before, neither did it carry the hint of fear. It was just empty. It surprised Lucifer for a minute.

"There is no need to try and mock me". Michael responded. "You've already won".

Lucifer sighed.

"True but if you are to die, I want you to put up a fight". He said to him. Michael scoffed.

"I don't do things for you anymore". He said. Lucifer narrowed his eyes at him.

"Okay then, do it for your God. How embarrassing would it be if he watched you succumb to the 'enemy' so easily". Michael stared at him for a while before clenching his fists.

"I can't kill you". Michael confessed.

"But I know someone who can and trust me, he is not going to hold back".

Lucifer laughed out loud. At least his pride was returning slowly.

"Don't forget Michael, it isn't him I'm fighting". Michael smirked.

"How wrong you are". As he said this, Michael rose up to his feet within seconds and drew a sword from thin air, his eyes glowed determination and he faced Gadreel.

"I am going to defeat you. Not with my power but with the power of the most high who you have proudly dishonored on this day". Michael said while pointing the sword at Gadreel. The rebel rolled his eyes.

"Just shut up and die already".

Lucifer went behind them and crossed his arms. Finally, a duel he found interesting was playing right in front of his eyes.

Gadreel made the first move. He struck Michael's sword with his, the impact made a loud clang. Gadreel's strength made it easier for him to remain dominant in the fight but surprisingly, Michael was not backing down. With a cry, he pushed the sword against Gadreel's with so much strength but it made little effect. The latter pushed Michael down to the ground out of frustration but he stood up again and came at him. This time he aimed at Gadreel's head. The act stunned him and he hastily blocked it.

"Have you lost your mind?!" He cried. Michael responded by hitting him on the chin. Gadreel's head slightly moved to the side but Michael's hands were broken. It didn't stop him though. The angel made a move to hit Gadreel with the second hand but Gadreel kicked his foot off the ground in an attempt to keep him down. Still Michael surprised him by steadying himself on the ground with one hand then he used his left leg to hit the side of Gadreel's face. The angel fell to ground hard, groaning.

"Oh you too?" Came a voice from behind him. Lucifer was staring at him with a confused expression. Michael frowned at him and pointed his sword at him, it was at that moment he saw what Lucifer was talking about. His whole body was glowing brightly and had changed. He looked exactly like Gadreel, no, even better. Michael smirked at Lucifer afterwards.

"Well, looks like you aren't that special anymore". He said Lucifer clenched his fists. He looked around and saw that Michael, Beth and Nahamani possessed this new found power. Every angel that fought for the most high had suddenly turned to mega angels just like he and his followers. He growled lightly and clenched his fists. He could feel his pride being slowly torn from him and he was not going to let Michael or anyone mock him.

"So". He replied. "I have the sword, no matter the transformation I have a better advantage". Michael laughed at his statement

"What is funny?"

"You think you have the advantage? Lucifer, you lost every advantage the moment you turned against the most high. You can kill me or the rest of us but you will never win, you will never take heaven, and you will never seat on the throne of glory". A loud noise escaped from Lucifer's lips and he lunged for Michael and the heavens were shaken.
