First Battle

The flight from Italy to nightingale island was a long one, By the time Justine arrived, she was already dead tired.

The first person who received her after she landed was the principal of the school she enrolled in.

The principal welcomed her warmly and walked her around the school to show her all the facilities.

After they were done, Justine went back to her room in the dormitory to sleep as she was tired from the jet lag.

A few days have passed since she came to school, but she couldn't fit in or make any friends.

Justine was disappointed because she failed to adapt to the new place as she promised her big brother.

One morning she received a challenge notification on her phone and she accepted it right away even without seeing the challenger name or rank.

She told herself in anticipation,

"If I win this battle, I will be popular among my classmates and they would approach me to become their friends"

Back then Justine didn't know how naive she was, she took her brother's words for granted, that she was a hard worker and she will beat any opponent she faced.

She was training alone all this time she hadn't fought with a power user like her before.

Finally, the day of the battle came, she walked into the arena holding a big sword and wearing a heavy armor that seemed too big for her, that limited her movement a lot; she was walking like a robot.

The audience was large and full of public figures and rich people from all around the world, They were laughing loudly and pointing at Justine down there on the arena's ground.

Justine wasn't intimidated by the audience and continued walking confidently with steady steps until she reached the center of the arena.

She stood there quietly waiting anxiously for her opponent to come.

Finally, her opponent came into the arena and the audience's laughs faded gradually till the silence dominated the whole arena.

Justine's first opponent since she came into the school was a gravity user he was ranked 45.

The count down to the beginning of the battle started, as soon as the battle commenced her opponent applied a gravity field around her.

The gravity increased noticeably and the armor she was wearing felt heavier and heavier so she kneeled on the ground.

As the gravity increased, she couldn't hold up any more, so fell on the ground, she tried to get back up but she couldn't even move an inch.

Her opponent laughed at her hysterically saying,

"Don't even try, once you fall down it's practically impossible to get back up again"

Then he walked towards her slowly, once he became in front of her he put his feet on her head as if she was dirt.

"That is how ignorant people like you are treated, don't ever forget that!" he said that mocking Justine.

Justine had given up yet she tried to shock him with her electricity as he was stepping on her head.

She went ahead with the plan but unfortunately, the electricity didn't reach him as he was wearing a rubber shoe, he stepped back a few steps to avoid being shocked.

This plan backfired as her opponent was furious about her attempt to make a comeback, he said angrily,

"It seems that words don't go through you, so I will use force instead"

The gravity on Justine increased furthermore that the metal of her armor started bending and crushed her own body slowly.

The audience's cheers resonated throughout the whole arena and the school.

"The armor that you thought would help you actually served as my weapon-" he said

,

"It will slowly bend until it pierces through your skin-"

,

"Your whole body will be covered up in the blood if you don't give up"

Justine couldn't give up easily at first but as the cold metal seeped deep into her skin she gave up reluctantly.

Her opponent was announced as the winner. Before he left the arena he said,

"This was rather boring-"

,

"looks like your country's future will be rather grim"

After she heard those words suddenly all her senses dulled; the cheering of the audience faded, the pain from the injuries disappeared.

She was lying on the ground all helpless looking at her opponent's back as he was leaving the arena.

That was the worst day in Justine's life; the day she fought her first opponent, that day she learned that she was just a small fish in a large pool full of much bigger fish.

She went back to her room and cried all night in darkness, she realized that she didn't fulfill any of her promises to her brother.

That day was the turning point of her life; she would train for hours after school is over every day.

She gradually climbed in the ranking till she became an Elite student well known all over the school.

She wanted to settle the score with the gravity power user but he was called back to his country and didn't come back to the school since then.
