CHAPTER 50

CHICHI

Chichi can feel everyone's gaze on her as she

walks into the office that morning. it's been two

days of her absence, they obviously thought she

had been sacked since she cleared her table the

last time she was there. She acts like she didn't

hear their side whispers, nor notice their piercing gaze, she knocks on the Managing director's office and walks in.

"Good morning sir" she draws out the chair opposite the managing director and takes her seat. "Good morning Chioma, how did the meeting go this time?" he asks her with hopes

that she screwed it over like before since she is not good for anything than ruining their chances, she scoffs at his unimpressed gaze and replies him boldly "I sealed the deal". The M.D is taken back by her statement, he doesn't know how to react but he couldn't conceal the fact that he never expected to hear good news, not after the stunt she had pulled in the presence of the board of directors two days ago, he had to be sure she is not pulling his legs "He gave us the deal?" she smiles "Yes he did, even with better interest

"Yes!!!" he screams in excitement as he couldn't contain his happiness, he didn't know how she did it and he didn't bother to ask as that is not the main focus right now, as far as she brought it home to them, then he is glad! No matter what length she had gone to get it done. He gets up to pat her on the shoulder "Thank you!" she smiles at him, he is thanking her now but couldn't wait to

throw her out two days ago, she knows how to deal with men like him, people who spit you out

immediately you are of no use or value anymore.

His words broke her thought "So how much are we looking at? How much did he sign?"

"20% of their generated revenue" she replies him and he stares at her in shock "Whattt?? What do you mean by 20%? Like 20% of what they generate in a year? Or a month?"

"20% of what they generate from the success of this particular product we are about to sell to the world, and it is forever!". He stares at her in disbelief, he is all of a sudden short of words "how.. Chichi, how on earth did you get him to sign that?" Chichi stands up from her seat and picks up her bag "I got it done, don't stress about how". She opens the door to take her leave but he calls her back before she stepped out "Hold on Chichi, your office is still vacant" she turns and smirks "I will keep that in mind" he walks toward her and apologizes "wait! I'm sorry things almost went south, there are things I have no control over" she nods "I understand, if I was in your shoes I might have done the same thing". He follows her out of his office and calls the attention of every staff in the building which caught Chichi by surprise,

"Gather round everyone, I have a special

announcement to make". The place was filled in

less than thirty seconds, some people gave Chichi a disgusting stare hoping the M.D was about to disgrace her in front of them all, then sack her to make them see the implication of what she did so others can learn from her mistake. The managing director clears his throat "Miss Chioma here, won the contract for us and as a result of this, she has been promoted to the post of the Supervisor of this company, Home and Abroad" Chichi is as stunned as the rest of the staff in the room, the M.D faces her "starting

from now, Miss Chioma, your office is that way" he gestures towards the second biggest office in the building, his office being the biggest. Chichi couldn't hold the tears, she opens her bag to grab a tissue before she embarrassed herself. Some of her colleagues work up to congratulate her even though she can see through them that the news they heard beat their imaginations, she accepted their handshake and their fake congratulations with her fake smile and a thank you. She follows the M.D to her new office, he opens the door for her and gestures for her to go usher her new seat, she smiles genuinely at him and hugs him "Thank you very much sir!, I never expected this promotion this soon" he chuckles "We never expected the deal as well, you deserve it. You worked hard for this". He stepped out and shuts the door behind him, leaving Chichi alone in her office. Chichi walks to her table which is much bigger than the previous one, she admires the setting of the office, the bookshelf, and the couch for her visitors. She smiles as she sees

the small refrigerator, she draws her chair out and sits "Even the chair is more comfortable, Chichi you did it!" she laughsand grabs her cheeks to show how proud she is of herself.
