Chapter Two Hundred and Sixty One - Drinking with the Dads

I didn't have anything planned at the office but dad and I called Jerry to meet up for some drinks after the morning we had.

I know I bailed on Hailey whilst she would be dealing with her own stress from this morning in court but I needed this and I needed to be there with my dad as we discuss Chubbs, which is more important than I admitted.

Having her stay at a home is out of the question but bringing her home, while she's lashing out at Hailey is not an option, added with her attitude towards dad and Emmy.

If mom is incarcerated, there must be something long term and maybe, just maybe aunty and Jerry could house her at our expense.

Sitting in a half empty bar, watching Jerry frowning at us curiously since this is the first time we actually reached out to him since David's trial.

He is mom's brother after all but aunty detests mom and I always wondered why but maybe it's her involvement with David that must have caused the rift between them.

Without glancing at Bas and I, Jerry pulled a chair closer my dad, giving him a mocking smile.

"You're the last person I expected to see here, so what the f**k did you do now?" He asks dad, finally looking at Bas and I. Chuckling to himself, "I'm not saying it isn't good to finally see you hanging out in a bar with your son but something really f**ked up must have happened for you to be here with these two morons." He nods at Bas and I.

Standing up, "what are you drinking?" I asked Jerry, who looks around the bar curiously. "Beer or.." I nod to the bottle of JD on the table.

"You're our waiter?" Jerry chuckles but nods at the bottle on the table.

"Be right back," I responded already hitting Bas on the shoulder to accompany me, already briefing dad to fill Jerry in, while Bas and I absent ourselves.

I nod to the waiter who served us the bottle earlier, "can you take an extra shot glass and two bottle of waters to my table please," I requested politely, turning to order beer for Bas and I as we sat at the bar.

"What are you going to do if you wife wants to help Chubbs?" Bas staring straight ahead, asked in between small sips of beer.

Shrugging, since I did drop a small hint to Hailey but she didn't question me, even when we were alone upstairs. Although things went in a different direction in the bathroom, I smiled at the memory.

I've never come on that strong with Hailey in the bedroom but for the first time, I felt myself releasing my true self on her, enjoying when she didn't shy away but gave back the same energy I was putting in.

This is the beginning of a new journey for me, for us and it's topic I know she will never broach with me.

I winced at a heavy flick at my ear, "what the f**k man," I pulled back to glare at Bas, who just gave me a wry smile.

Slamming his empty bottle on the counter, "are you f**king kidding me?" Bas shook his head, turning to address the bartender, "another rounds please," he requested only to turn his wrath on me again.

"I've been talking and f**king slipped off to la la land," he accused me, lifting his bottle the bartender put in front of him, taking a sip before sliding the other one across to me.

Downing my first bottle, "well la la land is much more comforting than the reality, that is my f**king life." I retorted before taking large gulps of my second beer, aware that the bartender is looking on keenly at Bas and I.

"Your father said Hailey now knows about her relationship with Chubbs," Bas informs me impatiently, realising it's what he must have been saying to me while I was in anticipating thoughts about f**king my wife again.

"I'm listening," I quickly emptied my bottle, nodding to the bartender, who exchanged a glance with Bas first.

Pointing his bottle at me, "oh he's paying so keep topping us up." He chuckles at the bartender's smirk.

"You know how your wife is," Bas continues to take light sips while I took huge gulps, "she's not going to let Chubbs go without fighting to help her." Stopping with the bottle against my lips, I put it down without taking sip.

Frowning at Bas, "she would, wouldn't she?" I totally agree with him because Hailey is a sucker for loss causes and Chubbs is behaving like one because of what mom has instilled in her.

"What are you going to do about that?" Bas ask, spinning his chair to face me.

Shrugging, "go along and help her because she will ignore me for sure." I chuckle dryly, aware of Hailey's determination to help others, especially if the other, is her own sister.

"I was hoping David would have been outside to put a helping hand in dealing with Chubbs." I explained, which is why I didn't say anything before today, trusting David to handle his daughters bonding, especially after the way, mom f**ked it up!

As Bas and I discuss Hailey and Chubbs, I wonder how Jerry is taking everything dad is sharing with him or I wonder how much is dad sharing with him.

"I guess to appeased Chubbs, David will share Hailey's inheritance with her," Bas mused.

Realizing there's a lot I kept to myself concerning Hailey's shares at SullaKnights.

"From the little that i know, "Hailey's grandparents are well off and Hailey's mother is the one who invested into SullaKnights with her trust fund, not David." I whispered to myself, realizing that Chubbs have nothing to gain at SullaKnights.

Curling my lips in disgust, "that's why mom did what she did!"
