CHAPTER 11: The walk

When school was over, Kelly waited in class as usual until everyone left. As she left the class and was walking down the school hall, she saw Joseph waiting outside for her. He looked at her with no expression on his face.

"I'll walk you home," he said to Kelly, who seemed confused because she wasn't sure if she should accept his offer or not. But before she could say anything, Joseph walked past her, so she had no option but to follow him.

As they strolled together, neither of them said a word. But halfway through, Kelly's stomach suddenly growled, and at the same time, they both raised their heads to look at each other. Kelly blushed so hard that she wished she could find a hole to bury herself.

When Joseph heard her stomach growl, coupled with the way she blushed, he couldn't hold in his laughter anymore. She didn't know how cute she looked right now.

Kelly, who heard his laughter, glared at him angrily. "Quit laughing, it's not funny." Joseph stopped laughing after she spoke, but she knew he was trying to hold it in. She stomped her foot angrily and walked away. When Joseph noticed that she was really angry, he pulled himself together and went after her.

"Hey, wait up, I'm sorry for laughing. It's just that you looked so cute when blushing that I couldn't stop laughing," Joseph said while catching up with her. Kelly glared at him when she heard the last sentence. She wanted to walk away again, but he stopped her.

"Wait, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. Come with me, there's a good restaurant close by. I'll treat you to a meal," he said while pulling her along.

When they got to the restaurant, Kelly ordered lots of food. When Joseph watched her eating, he realized that she was a foodie. She really looked cute the way she was eating. He couldn't help but chuckle.

When they were done eating, Joseph suggested that they take a walk around to digest the food and he tried to make small talk.

"So, Kelly, do you have any hobbies?" Joseph asked.

Kelly thought for a moment before answering, "Well, I like to read and draw. And sometimes, I like to take long walks alone."

Joseph nodded. "That sounds interesting. What do you usually draw?"

"Anything that comes to mind. Sometimes, I draw people or landscapes," Kelly answered.

They continued to talk about their interests and hobbies as they walked around. Kelly found herself enjoying the conversation, and for the first time, she didn't feel like an outcast or a weirdo. Joseph was easy to talk to, and he seemed genuinely interested in what she had to say.

As they walked back to Kelly's house, she felt a strange feeling in her chest. It was a feeling that she couldn't quite put her finger on, but she knew that it was different from anything she had ever felt.

She realised how late she was and when she got inside she found her step sister waiting for her at the door.
