The Game I Play

Zoey's POV:

Somehow, we both seemed to have gotten along a bit. He wasn't arrogant as other employees described him to be, neither was he cold towards me. He was the opposite of everything they said about him.

Perhaps, his good deeds were taken for granted, I guessed that was the root of his sudden change towards humanity. I understood that love could change people in several ways. Unimaginable ways. No one was destined to have a perfect life after all.

I couldn't wait to share the good news with her as soon as I arrived home safely. It was gonna be risky if I made the call within the vicinity of the company. I couldn't take chances. She was gonna be super proud of me. I was proud of myself already.

"How do you feel about the company?", he asked as he pushed the elevator buttons.

"I can't say much. As a matter of fact, I just got the job", I bluntly said. The silver doors of the elevator finally opened and we got in.

I had always hated the feeling of entering an elevator. My head always felt dizzy and my legs shaky like I was gonna fall anytime soon. But, this time was different. Oops! Not until now. There was a power outage.

The lights in the elevator went out and it stopped moving. I was already sweaty as I began to panic in fear. "Sir?", I screamed out.

"Don't be a kid, Zoey. I'll call on the emergency, okay? Nothing is gonna happen to you", he assured as he reached out for the emergency button and pushed it once.

"Do I really look like a kid to you?", I said to his face. I didn't find it funny when he called me that. It was kinda underestimating.

"If you think you aren't, then prove it", he smirked.

"Wanna play games, right?", I asked.

"More details?", he seemed interested.

"A game of seduction. Just you and I", I ran my fingers down his chest. That literally explained the whole thing.

"Wanna test me, huh?", he whispered in my ear as he pinned me to the silver walls of the elevator.

I could hear my heart pounding loudly. I closed my eyes, waiting for him to turn down my expectations like he did previously.

"Isn't this what you wanted the whole time- A kiss?", he kissed the nape of my ear. His soft whispers sent a tingle down my spine.

I felt the butterflies fluttering in my stomach. This was a once in a lifetime moment. It seemed to take forever for power to be restored. I couldn't let this opportunity pass by. He wasn't joking this time.

Now, I didn't just want a kiss. I needed something that could last forever. This moment was making everything seem different. My eyes saw him differently. Was it only me or it felt mutual?, it kept me wondering.

"You can open your eyes, Zoey", he said.

"W-what?", I asked softly. "Power has been restored; we can come out now", he said from a distance. I wished he was playing pranks this minute but, it turned out to be true as I opened my eyes slowly.

He was standing out already. I quickly ran out before the elevator doors automatically closed itself. "We should hurry up. I got some important work to attend to", he said nonchalantly as he busied himself with his phone.

It got me thinking how all his attention diverted from me within seconds. It felt like I was stuck with a total different person in the elevator. His personality really drove me crazy. He didn't spend up to fifteen minutes showing me around before he disposed me off.

"Be early as possible to work tomorrow", he said. With that, he bade me goodbye and disappeared without a trace. What kind of a guy was he? One who was double-faced. He was unpredictable and never ceased to amaze me in different ways.
