The Cooper's Mansion

Kendall's POV:

The Jeep drew up in front of a brown gate. At the sound of the ear-splitting horn, the gate was opened widely by a security guard. The Jeep swerved into a two-car garage and the engines went off.

Albert rushed out and flung the backseat door opened. "Thanks for the superb ride", I said, stepping my right foot out of the jeep.

"It's my pleasure", he bowed. He shut the door as soon as I was completely out. I insisted he took the lead to the main door.

He led me to the main door of the Cooper's mansion and left immediately. I was overexcited that I was gonna see my aunt. It's been forever since I last saw her. Without wasting any damn time, I quickly pressed the bell switch beside the door, twice at once.

I heard the keyhole finally turn and the door was opened. Aunt Pamela rushed out hastily and embraced me warmly in her arms.

"Aunt, I've missed you so much", I confessed wholeheartedly.

"Finally! I've gotten to see you after all a couple years, sweetie", Aunt Pamela kissed my forehead lightly and smiled.

"You're so sweet, aunt", I blushed.

"Come in, please. I wanna introduce you to everyone", she grabbed my hands and pulled me in. I dragged my feet along and till we were finally in the sitting room.

The house interiors were incredibly beautiful. The white chandelier light that hung at the center of the living room, the sets of furniture, the paintings, lamp holders and the wall decorations. The mansion was modern and lit.

Before I could open my mouth to say a word, she was already ahead. "Kendall, meet Xavier; the love of my life. Darling, this is my niece; Kendall", she introduced us to each other.

"Good day, uncle", I greeted, lighting up my face with a smile.

"It's my pleasure to meet you, Kendall. I welcome you specially with an openheart", he said with a warm smile. He was a spec and I was happy my aunt found him. She was full of luck.

"Here again, Kendall, meet baby Katriel", she pointed at a rocking crib.

Damn! I didn't even take notice when I walked in. I tiptoed to the crib quietly and peered through to have a look of what she seemed like. I couldn't take my eyes off the sleeping beauty. She was angelic, chubby and her skin as white as snow. It felt like she was from the Disneyland.

"Awwn!", I purred. "She's so cute. You never told me you had a baby", I said.

"It's been three days since I put to birth, Kendie. Your mum is aware, I felt she'd have told you herself. I'm sincerely sorry", she apologized.

Speaking of my mum, I didn't want to say anything related to her. "Oh! She has been caught up with work lately, rather, as usual, you know?", I responded.

"Yeah. She's really hardworking", my aunt said.

"Wait here while I call someone to show you a room to stay, so you can freshen up, okay?", uncle Xavier asked.

"Yes, uncle. I'm grateful", I smiled faintly. I had a really long day and my legs were already feeling paralyzed.

A young lady, within my age range, wheeled my boxes out from the trunk of the car. She wore a sleeveless black shirt and a blue jean skirt. Her thick dark hair rested on her shoulders. She was pretty.

She led me through the stairs. I dragged myself on limply till she pulled to a halt in front of a door.

"Here are the keys. If you need anything, please let me know, okay?", she asked kindly.

I smiled in response. "Yeah! Thank you", I answered. "I'm Kendall, by the way", I felt I should introduce myself formally.

"I'm Amelia, Katriel's babysitter", she smiled.

"Hope we get along on my stay here", I grinned.

Amelia giggled. "We can bet on this".

I sealed up the conversation and found my way in through the door of my assigned room. I was yet to unpack my stuffs and arrange them where they belonged. I couldn't muster up a single ounce of strength anymore. I took off my shoes and fell my back to the bed.
