After the flowers were packed, Lu Chenjun left the shop and went up to the second floor.

He immediately located Elena and he happily took the flowers out of the bag. He threw the empty bag at Fang Shi and entered the shop.

He took light steps, slowly walking over to the couch Elena was sitting on.

He wanted to surprise her, so he made sure not to make any noise as he walked across the store.

He was only a few steps away from her when suddenly, a female worker gasped loudly. Lu Chenjun shot a glare over at her, but it was too late.

Elena turned around and she froze at the sight of Lu Chenjun.

Lu Chenjun immediately hid the flowers and the chocolates behind his back and smiled sweetly at Elena.

At this moment, Mila also finished, and she walked over to Elena. She stopped in her tracks and her jaw dropped in surprise. Isn't that Mr. Lu? What is he doing here?

Lu Chenjun was still angry that his second step to surprise Elena had failed, and he turned towards the female worker.

"You're fired."

Once he looked back, the coldness in his face had completely disappeared. It was replaced with gentleness and love.

"Did you miss me?"

Elena knit her eyebrows together and stood up from the couch, "No."

She turned to walk away, but Lu Chenjun stopped her. He stretched out his long arm and grabbed onto her waist, turning her around.

With one swift pull, Elena's face landed on his chest. Instinctively, she tried to push him away, but her strength was no match to his.

Lu Chenjun looked down at Elena's mouth and smiled. He used his thumb to wipe away the melted strawberry ice cream that accidentally landed next to Elena's lips. He brought his thumb up to his mouth and licked the ice cream off.

"So sweet," he exclaimed.

Elena scrunched her face up in disgust. She quickly wiped her mouth using her hand to make sure there were no more stains.

Mila hurriedly ran towards them and grabbed onto Elena's shoulder, "Mr. Lu, what are you doing here?"

"I'm courting my future wife."

Mila's eyes widened and her gaze moved quickly from Lu Chenjun to Elena, then back to Lu Chenjun.

"First let her go, there are people here."

Lu Chenjun completely ignored Mila and continued to stare at Elena.

"Let me go."

Lu Chenjun immediately loosened his grip and Elena used this chance to escape. Lu Chenjun tilted his head to the side and brought his other hand forward.

"Welcome back," he said with the chocolates in one hand and roses in the other.

Elena looked down at the transparent box of assorted chocolates and her expression changed slightly. Every single piece of chocolate inside was her favorite.

She looked up at him and realized that he had gotten even more handsome in the span of two years. He seemed to have grown a little taller and a hint of maturity could now be seen on his face.

Elena debated on whether she should take the chocolates or not. Well, the chocolates were innocent? So why should she waste a perfectly good box of chocolates?

Just as Elena stretched out her arm to take the box, a crying female worker ran up to them.

Elena jumped back in shock at the sight of her messed-up mascara and black-colored tears.

"Please don't fire me, Mr. Lu. Why are you firing me?"

Lu Chenjun closed his eyes in annoyance. What is wrong with people these days?

He looked towards Elena and smiled, "Should I fire her?"

Elena wrinkled her nose and asked, "Why are you firing her?"

Lu Chenjun thought about his 'How to Get a Wife' plan and frowned. She ruined his second step!

But of course, Lu Chenjun couldn't say that out loud.

Lu Chenjun cleared his throat, "Just tell me if I should fire her or not?"

Elena rolled her eyes and said, "Of course not. If you don't even have a reason, why are you firing her?"

Lu Chenjun nodded and turned towards the worker, "You are no longer fired. Work well."

"Thank you, Mr. Lu. Thank you, thank you."

Lu Chenjun looked back at Elena with a smile and opened the box of chocolates, "Are you hungry? Do you want to eat one right now? Which one?"

Elena licked her lips at the sight of the chocolates, but she controlled herself.

"What is your issue? What are you even doing here?"

Lu Chenjun picked out a pink colored chocolate in the shape of a heart, "I told you, I'm here to court my future wife."

Elena turned around to leave, "Well, you found the wrong person. I am not your future wife."

Lu Chenjun followed Elena to the cashier and said, "You are."

"Whatever you say," Elena said, obviously annoyed.

"So are you agreeing?'

"No."

The excitement on Lu Chenjun's face vanished and he looked down at the chocolate he was still holding.

He held the chocolate up to Elena's mouth and urged her to open her mouth, "Ah!"

Elena looked longingly at the chocolate but she turned her head away. If she gives in now, he is going to keep on annoying her.

"Ah," Lu Chenjun said again, holding the chocolate closer to her mouth.

Elena finally lost her temper and she turned around to look at Lu Chenjun.

"What is your problem? You broke up with me two years ago and go sleep with another woman, and now you're here saying I'm your future wife. Shut up! I'm not falling for your same, stupid tricks twice. You can go find Chu Hua or some other stupid person to go waste your time, but I don't have time! I don't need your fake feelings anymore, so get lost!"

Lu Chenjun's face turned serious and he put the chocolate back into the box.

"I think there has been a misunderstanding."

Elena took back her credit card and picked up the shopping bag, "Well, let's just keep misunderstanding."

Lu Chenjun dropped the flowers and placed the chocolates onto the counter. He grabbed Elena's arm and furrowed his eyebrows.

"Two years ago, I didn't miss our dinner on purpose."

Elena nodded sarcastically and said, "Sure, like that makes any difference."

She tried to fling away his hand, but Lu Chenjun's grip was too strong. Behind a rack of clothes, Mila was watching the scene unfold.

"That dinner wasn't for breaking up."

"It was for parting ways," Elena whispered.

"No, I made a mistake."

"You made a ton of mistakes."

"I was supposed to confess to you during that dinner."

Elena looked up at him with confusion in her eyes. Is there something wrong with his brain?

"The day before, I kicked Chu Hua out of the house. I realized that I love you and only you. However, I didn't want our relationship to be bound from a contract. So, I broke up with you so I could confess to you the next day. But. . ."

Elena sighed and said, "Are you done with your story yet? If you are, let me go."

Lu Chenjun's face darkened. He could totally understand why Elena was mad, but he was hoping that she would forgive him. He had to work harder.

"I'm not done! That night, Chu Hua sent me a picture of you kissing Zhang Bing. I was angry so I went out for a drink. However, Chu Hua drugged my drink and took me to her hotel. She pretended to sleep with me but nothing actually happened."

"And you would totally know that nothing happened after being drugged."

"She used ketchup and hot sauce to fake blood, do you think anything happened?" Lu Chenjun's voice was getting louder and his tone was much more serious and direct.

Elena flinched and her eyes widened. Was he actually telling the truth?

"I woke up the next day and realized what happened? I went to look for you, and I saw you at the airport. . . with Zhang Bing. I thought you were together with Zhang Bing, and I didn't want to ruin your happiness. So you left."

Lu Chenjun's voice got smaller and smaller as he kept talking.

Elena took some time to process the information, and Mila was also in shock after hearing everything.

They had just come back for one day, and already, so much was happening! Mila felt like she was watching a live drama happening right in front of her.

Lu Chenjun's gaze stayed on Elena as he waited for her response.

"Are you lying to me?" Elena asked softly.

Lu Chenjun shook his head, and Elena could tell that he wasn't lying from his genuine eyes and serious expression.

She knit his eyebrows together tightly and pulled away from Lu Chenjun's grip.

"Well, I misunderstood you."

"Does that mean you forgive me?" Lu Chenjun asked excitedly.

"You did nothing wrong, so I don't have to forgive you."

Elena turned around to leave, but Lu Chenjun stopped her again.

He picked up the chocolates and the roses, "If you forgive me, then take my gift for you."

Elena looked at him and only took the chocolates, "Thank you. Let's not meet again after today."

Lu Chenjun raised one eyebrow, "But I still have to court you."

Elena was getting kind of annoyed. 'Why is he trying to court me?'

"No, you don't have to. Our relationship ended two years ago, and I don't plan on having a relationship with you ever again. So, I advise you to give up."

With that, Elena turned around and left the shop.
