Chapter 73- It's Over!
As they worked, Delilah couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. She glanced around, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Still, the sensation lingered, making her skin prickle with unease.
Suddenly, one of Amy's followers, a tall girl with a sneer, sauntered over. "Well, well, well. Look what we have here. The little 'handsome' princess and her sidekick."
Anna felt Delilah's hand on her arm, a warning to stay calm. She took a deep breath, trying to ignore the girl's taunts. But as Delilah looked up, she saw someone that made her heart skip a beat – it was Zhang Han, standing in the doorway, his eyes fixed intently on Delilah, his gaze shifted to the tall girl like he was memorizing her face, his expressionless gaze made the girl flush, he soon left with a curt nod.
The girl didn't bother Delilah and Anna any more as she went to unpack, chattering non-stop about Zhang Han with her three friends.
When thirty minutes was up, they were called out again, they were all dressed in the olive green camouflage uniform.
This time the boys were more behaved than the girls.
Chief Instructor Zhang Han stood before them, his deep voice commanding attention as he lectured on the rules and regulations. His aura was cold and oppressive, yet his youthful appearance and chiselled features seemed to contradict his authoritative demeanour. His tanned skin and fit physique made him look like a male god, even in uniform.
Delilah tried to focus on the lecture, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched again. She sensed Zhang Han's gaze on her, and whenever their eyes met, she felt flustered and puzzled. His gaze held a curious intensity, mixed with a hint of guilt, which only added to her confusion.
As their eyes locked, Delilah's heart skipped a beat. She felt like he could see right through her, like he knew secrets she didn't. She quickly looked away, only to find herself glancing back at him moments later. The cycle repeated itself, leaving her feeling unsettled and skeptical.
Zhang Han's gaze lingered on Delilah, his expression unreadable. His eyes seemed to hold a thousand questions, but his words remained focused on the lecture. The air was thick with tension, and Delilah couldn't help but wonder why she felt like she was under a microscope.
Anna poked Delilah," What's up with you?" she asked lowly.
Delilah shook her head, maybe she was overthinking. " I really don't understand" she muttered to herself, her face twisted in confusion.
" Huh?" Anna was puzzled," Is it about Amy's followers? Don't bother yourself about them, you're stronger and much more beautiful than them" Anna cheered.
Delilah smiled bitterly and shook her head at Anna's goofiness.
As Zhang Han was droning on about the rules and regulations of the national defence training program, his voice as dry as the desert sand, when he saw two heads huddled together, whispering… amidst his lecture?
He called them out," Annabelle Ning, Delilah Chen, do you have anything to tell us?"
"…"
It's over!
It's over!
All heads turned to them, Amy crossed her arms, a smirk hung on a side of her lips, and her eyes lit up hoping to watch a good show.
