Chapter 43- Nightmare
Before Anna could give an explanation, they heard Delilah scream again," Delilah…. She is….", Anna ran back to the room followed by Mr. Chen and the rest.
Chen Xiao quickly cradle Delilah in his arms," shush Delilah, I'm here… daddy is here, please stop this, you're making me worry sick, Lila ", Chen Xiao coaxed, his eyes filled with deep worries. He glanced at Anna, who was crying her eyes out.
" What happened to her?" Chen Xiao interrogated.
" I-I don't know, we…. We studied and solved some equations before we went to bed. She wanted to sleep, but I didn't let her, she was so persistent that I had no other choice but to let her go to bed. I was only half asleep when I noticed her having a nightmare, I woke her up and this happened, I am so so so sorry, Mr. Chen", Anna cried.
Chen Xiao sighed, he was about to talk when,
"D-Dad? Is it you dad?", Delilah asked her eyes closed, her voice as low as a whisper.
" Yes Lila, it is me", Chen Xiao answered and almost immediately, Delilah's arms went around his neck like a koala, she cried her heart out on his chest.
Chen Xiao was stunned," Are…. Are you alright now? Should I call a doctor? Do you need anything?"
Delilah raised her head, "When will you be leaving?",
Chen Xiao's eyes softened, he wiped her tears with his thumb, "you don't want me to leave D city for the moment, huh?", he replied her question with a question.
Delilah nodded slowly, she looked like she has something to say but refrained.
" I'm sorry I disturbed your sleep dad", she apologized.
" Mm…. As long as you are fine", he planted a kiss on her forehead.
" Thanks for the trouble Annabelle", Chen Xiao turned to the girl, and she bowed, wiping away her tears.
Chen Xiao got out of the bed, "Now you girls get a good sleep", he said "Will you be able to go to school tomorrow Lila?" he asked Delilah, who nodded affirmative.
" Well, it is settled then…. You two should rest well, you have class tomorrow. Have a good sleep girls",
Delilah: "Alright dad"
Annabelle:" Yes, Mr. Chen Xiao, have a good rest"
Chen Xiao then left with Mr. Tang Yu and Mrs. Feng Tian Tian after switching off the lights.
Anna slowly lay on the bed, "Delilah, Are - are you alright?, she rubbed her head gently.
"Hm! I am now thanks to you, and I am sorry I troubled you", Delilah forced a smile.
" Are you sure you're fine?" Anna asked and Delilah nodded.
"Alright I believe you, but what was that about, you look like you were in a bad dream", questioned Anna.
"It was more of a nightmare actually " Delilah responded without thinking.
