It was stupid, Rafał know that, but he really wanted to repay Radosz in some way for all he has done.
Admittedly, before he fell asleep, Rafał decided to devote himself to his work even more, but that was not enough for him. And so he wanted to work as best he could and in fact he did it primarily for himself and for the chance that Radosz gave him by hiring him, so it would not actually be gratitude to someone who saved his life. Such a noble act that touched his private sphere also deserved a more private gratitude.
However, there was no answer from Radosz's side and after a few seconds Rafał looked up at his neighbor, concerned. Damian looked at him intensely, but as if he was seeing him for the first time in his life. The intensity of that gaze was disturbing, but not in any unpleasant way. Rafał just felt strangely uncomfortable and blushed even more.
"I'm hungry," Radosz said suddenly, and Brylski had the impression that his voice was a bit hoarse. “Why don't we have dinner together? I'd like to know a little bit about your experiences on the set of my show. How about this form of gratitude?”
“Sounds terribly dump” answered Rafał, still feeling a certain shyness. “Like from a series.”
“I think it would be more trouble if I demanded you to pay the debt of gratitude with your own body” Radosz laughed, but suddenly he was ashamed of his words himself. "Sorry, stupid joke," he grunted.
Rafał felt as if his face was going to burn completely in a moment.
“No, no, you're right. Let's go for dinner. I'm hungry too.”
“Could there be a restaurant in this hotel? If so, I am actually ready…” replied Radosz quickly.
“Yes, sure, it can be, then I, actually, I'm ready too...”
“Come on then.”
***
Damian had no idea why he was making such a stupid joke. He had never joked like that with a man before, and neither with a woman. So what crossed his mind to make such a comment in the direction of Brylski? After all, taking into account their professional relationships, this text can be read as harassment in the workplace!
Ok, it really won't be that drastic. It was just a joke, completely without overtones, and accidental and without ‘continuation’ so no one should blame anything.
Damian, however, was somewhat disturbed by the fact that he allowed himself to utter this joke. In fact, it was even more disturbing that such a joke had even occurred to him. “If I demanded you to pay the debt of gratitude with your own body’, the hell! And he said that to a man!
Radosz had nothing against gays, but so far he had no interest in them. I mean, a man, even handsome, had no sexual subtext for him - only in terms of criteria, perhaps, whether women would like him and be able to sell him well on the big or small screen.
Once, at school, Damian used to joke with the guys a bit about gay subjects, but it all ended when it turned out that one of them was really gay. Such jokes are no longer funny because they offend the dignity of a pretty cool buddy who doesn't deserve to be ridiculed.
So Damian quickly learned to accept being different, but that didn't mean that he wanted to experiment. He was totally, one hundred percent straight, happily engaged to a beautiful girl and they were on the verge of setting a wedding date, and then suddenly a joke about paying with the body appeared in his head, a joke directed at a man. He even said the joke out loud!
To make matters worse, this joke was not provoked by any erotically provocative scene...
Damian, already with his hand on the doorknob, stopped and bit his lower lip.
It's not like the conversation with Rafał and the sight of his beautiful face erotically aroused him. No, it wasn't eroticism, it was… something else.
The conversation with Rafał Brylski was like a fresh breeze of spring and a hot embrace of summer. Totally strange and previously unknown to Damian feeling of some intriguing, completely light pleasure. Looking at Rafał, listening to his voice, and especially observing his strangely charming reaction to completely ordinary situations, Radosz felt nothing but this fresh, seductive and relaxing lightness.
In this hard, full race for money world, where you had to be a wolf in order not to be eaten, Rafał Brylski was a truly invaluable treasure, innocent and gentle as a lamb.
What Damian said to him was really innocent and had no overtones. It was just a bad joke in response to his remark that his dinner proposal was a bit of a dummy. Because there was nothing wrong with the dinner proposal, right?
Why would there be anything wrong with the dinner they will have together? People have to eat. Most people prefer to eat in company rather than alone. Anyway, many business talks are held at meals, including dinners.
It is true that this meeting today is not a business meeting, at least not entirely, but it is also not strictly private. Something like the first meeting where two people want to get to know each other in order to decide whether they will be good partners... of course in business.
Damian had to shake the strange associations out of his mind again. The only thing he wanted from Rafał Brylski was fruitful cooperation on this project and on the next ones. Yes, that's it!
The strong conviction that had just emerged in Radosz's mind, however, had to completely melt when his eyes fell on the corridor at the young actor waiting for him. Dressed completely casually, that is, in a plain T-shirt and jeans, Brylski looked like a college student going out with his friends for a beer. Still, or maybe because of this, there was something very appealing about him, and Damian decided that he really wanted to befriend him.
Brylski smiled shyly, but warmly, and Radosz was completely engrossed.
Damian's heart was beating strongly and he felt a revival he had not known before, as if he had just been injected with a very strong substance bringing pleasure.
It wasn't lust, it wasn't love, it was... Damn, what was that?
It was an incredibly strong desire to make Rafał Brylski happy. If Damian believed in magic, he would have assumed that Rafał had completely enchanted him at this point.
The most surprising thing was that Rafał, to achieve this, did absolutely nothing but smiled shyly.
Really feeling his heart beating dangerously fast and his whole body shivering strangely pleasant, Damian smiled quite naturally, as if smiling from within his soul.
“You look much better” Radosz noticed. “Are you feeling better too?”
“Yes, much, thank you” admitted Rafał and his voice was so naturally warm that Damian's heart started to melt like heated caramels. “I slept during the day so long that I don't think I will fall asleep that night.”
“Then we'll have plenty of time to talk. Have you already used the hotel restaurant?”
“Yes, although I ate most of my meals in my room. I didn't have time for a restaurant.”
“How's the food here?”
“I guess it depends on the palate. It's ok for me.”
Food was a totally innocent topic of conversation between two men who were still strangers to each other. Totally safe. Nevertheless, during this conversation, Rafał felt sincere pleasure that completely did not fit into such a banal topic.
Plus, his heart was beating a little too fast.
