Someone remembered me today

From the moment I woke up that morning, I knew it was going be be a stressful day and true to that, I got busy with work the moment I stepped into the office that morning. I didn't even realize the time untill my personal phone buzzed with an incoming call from. I pick it up to see that it's from Ash. (someone remembered me today).

"I thought I was your best friend Bee" Ash started in that whiny tone of hers.(Oo, she has started).

"And who said you're not, Ash"?

"Uhhhh, no one. Just wanted to make sure my position's safe. With Ric lurking around I'm at the danger of being overthrown". she laughs

"Oo Ash, I missed you" I say truthfully.

I really did miss her and Ace alot. The two girls are my only girlfriends. I might be closer to Ric but there are things I can never talk to him about. Girl stuff you know. Ash is a very open person, a listener and is always there for me when I need her. She is very straightforward so she is the one I go to for advice. Ace is the outgoing one. The life of our little group although she'd have to compete with Henry for that one (lol). Gives the wierd advices too. The past week has been stressful for all of us so we didn't get to meet up for girls time or even hang out with the boys.

"I miss you too Bee" she replied joyfully.

"and that's why we're having a girls night today, at my place. Ace will be here too." she added

"That's sooo what I need Ash"

"I know, I'm the one with the best timing after all"

"Yeah, you sure are"

"And make sure Ric doesn't come near my door today Bee, absolutely no guys allowed" she laughs

"Don't worry about that, we haven't even spoken since the day before yesterday. He would not know"

"Oh, that's new" she said

"you guys have a fight?" she added

"Not really, I wouldn't call that a fight."

"But something did happen right"

"Yh, but we even watched a movie after that, so we are cool."

"If you say so"

I didn't even realize untill I told her. I check the time and it's a quarter pass four in the evening. I was going to call Ric earlier after he missed our morning run today but it totally skipped my mind. He usually tells me if he's going to skip the run for any reason which makes it wierd that he didn't inform me this time. He also hasn't called me entirely since that night. That's two days now. But we were okay even before I slept off, so maybe he just got busy with work as I did and didn't get the chance to call then. That's it, I conclude.

"Be here on time, else we're starting without you" Ash says bringing my mind back to her.

"I will"

"Don't strees yourself Bee, work less ok. Love you"

"I'll try. Love you too."

I immediately dial Ric's number and wait for the call to connect but it doesn't. I try a second time and it goes straight to voicemail. I consider who to call and I look for Nat's number and hit dial. Nat will probably know what's up with him. I know he's alright but just to be sure, I convince myself.

"Hey Bee" Nat's cool voice comes from the other end.

"Hope all is well, you hardly call this line you know" he adds laughing.

"I never knew" I say, even though I know he's right about that. Nat and I do not talk much, so we hardly get to talk on phone but we are still friends considering we run in thesame circle and he's the closest guy to Ric. They might not be staying together anymore as Ric just moved to his own apartment but he should still know where Ric is or what's up with him.

"Just joking" he says laughing in that cool way of his. He's probably the coolest person I know. Cool, kind and extremely attractive. I used to have a crush on him untill I learned that Ash and Ace did too, so we just concluded that attracting girls is a natural trait of his (funny right).

"I know" I reply

"So what's up" he says sounding serious. ( Now that's the Nat I know)

"Have you heard from Ric? his line's not going through"

"Oo, he didn't tell you?" he says sounding surprised.

"tell me what?"

"He got the contract for the resort he's been talking about. Finalized it yesterday morning and he's been busy with it since they wanted it starting immediately. He went to the site today. Told me I might not be able to reach him since the place is deep in the woods." he says

"I thought you're aware" he sighs "You guys fought?"

"No, not a fight i'm aware of" I say trying to sound convincing given that I'm having a hard time convincing myself about that. I'm deeply hurt. I know we had a little fight but we made up and everything seemed normal before I slept. Ric tells me all these things first, which is why it hurts since he chose not to this time.

"Maybe he thought he told me, probably skipped his mind" I add, not wanting to give anything away.

"Probably" he says, not sounding believable at all.

"Don't worry Bee, he's fine. I'm sure he'll call you" he says and I wonder if I did give something away after all.

"Yh, I know he will" I respond to that.

"Take care Nat" I say and end the call wondering why Ric didn't tell me. I knew how much he wanted that contract and it hurts to know he didn't even consider telling me he got it. Is he avoiding me? I wonder. But that's the only explanation for his behavior.
