Lincoln massaged his nose bridge in frustration as he and Treasure sat at a park filled with couples.
"Should I get something to cool you off? Cause you've been acting strange lately." Treasure tried engaging herself in a conversation. Lincoln huffed and stopped what he was doing.
"Do you hate gay guys this much?" Treasure questioned again and this made Lincoln give her a stern look.
"You know what...just go get me something cool please."
"You sure?"
"NO!"
"DUDE! What's your problem? What ever did that guy do to you?"
"HE BROKE MY HEART!"
All hell let lose because Treasure's lips parted widely in amaze, shock and surprise. She was completely astounded. Lincoln face palmed himself in frustration, he totally screwed up.
"You're not the only one with betrayal or heartbreak or any other random sh*t....I have my own difficult issues too Tress....he's one of them....and funny enough, am still not over him." Treasure scrunched her brows together when he told her everything.
"YOU'RE GAY?" Lincoln nodded in acknowledgement and Treasure arched an eyebrow at him.
"What? You don't believe me?"
"Yes! You act very much like a man....well you literary are one, but its just that I never expected you to be gay." Lincoln chuckled lightly and rested his chin on his knuckles, facing her.
"I like being the man in a relationship while the other guy is the female....it makes me feel strong and manly enough to protect and care for a guy...I like to show them that they could lean on me." Lincoln explained himself and Treasure nodded slowly with an 'oh' in understanding.
"How many guys have you dated so far?"
"Five."
"FIVE! Including that dazzling guy we saw at the mall?"
"He's part of the five Tress...he was my fifth boyfriend." When Lincoln spoke about him he always had a gloomy, depressed and heartbroken facade.
"What happened? I feel like something bad happened." Treasure moved closer with genuine concern towards Lincoln. He sighed heavily and leaned his back against the wooden chair and stretched out his legs.
"He cheated on me...while we we're still in a relationship, he started double dating without me even knowing, when I found out and confronted him he told me he wants to break up with me...I asked why? And he simply told me he found someone more caring, fun and lovable than i..."
Lincoln's voice caught and he shut his eyes tightly, when he opened them they were red. Treasure placed her hand carefully on his shoulder and patted him gently to ease out the pain.
"I did everything Tress....EVERYTHING! I gave him the world, I cared for him more than anyone....I LOVED HIM! But he lied to my face, saying I didn't care enough neither was I even lovable...."
"I understand Lincoln, I've never been heartbroken before but I know how you feel." Treasure quickly interjected when his tone changed into a hard one, filled with anger and hurt.
Lincoln nodded slowly in acceptance, he just had to accept the fact that he had to let his ex go for good...he had to just let go.
"What happened to the other four? Hope they didn't break your heart?" Lincoln shook his head before giving a reply.
"They weren't ready for a serious relationship....so I ended up having a fling with them...."
"Boys do that too? WOW!" Treasure had an amazed expression and Lincoln chuckled.
"We do a lot of things Tress."
-----***-----
"They know?!"
"Yea they do...and they are cool with it."
Boys really knew how to cooperate more than girls, his friends knew about it and kept it to themselves.
THOSE ARE REAL FRIENDS....
Treasure sighed, it was a blessing to have Lincoln and Ray as friends....at least boys were much better.
She and Lincoln took a cab back to school, the school looked deserted. Though some students were seen lurking about.
"Yo!" A guy called out to Lincoln. The guy carried her bag along with another bag....it might be Lincoln's, she thought.
"Hey man." Lincoln exchanged handshakes with him when they were close to each other.
"Caught you sneaking out of school with miss beautiful." Lincoln chuckled at what his friend said while Treasure just kept a neutral face.
"Thanks man, you did well."
"No issue man, just did what was right." Lincoln took their bags from his friend, they shook hands again before he left.
"See! Told you I got you covered, everything went well."
"How are you even sure?" Lincoln hesitated for a while.
" 'Cause there was no update....most times we guys don't need to narrate the whole story, we just read each other's body language." Treasure looked fascinated and awed.
"Cool!"
She took her bag from Lincoln and followed him all the way to his car. He unlocked it and she got in, he did likewise.
"You're unique you know...you don't even brag to people that you're very rich....your car is even plain." Treasure complimented him, he smiled and started the car.
"Thanks for the compliment miss...now let's get to business...direct me to your house."
"Aye aye captain!"
Lincoln had to glance at Treasure in surprise. She really wasn't what he thought she'd be....she had a free spirit.
As Lincoln drove, they chatted, laughed, sang together and bonded very fast...really fast.
It took a while before Lincoln finally parked his car by the road side, across her house. Lincoln looked through the window at her house before staring at her.
"You have a comfy apartment...do you know I've always wanted to live alone in a cute house as that." Treasure giggled at his statement, she felt free and comfortable around Lincoln, like they've known each other for so long.
"You're free to drop by champ, we've got an extra room perfect for you."
"Really? Am thrilled." Treasure smiled and hung her bag on her left shoulder before opening the door, ready to leave.
Lincoln didn't bother stepping out, he just sat there watching her climb out of his car. She walked round the car and waved at him but Lincoln's eyes were elsewhere, he had his eyes on a figure standing at Treasure's porch.
"Treasure?"
Treasure twisted her neck to the direction of the voice calling her.
"Ray!"
She exclaimed happily and at the same time shocked to see him. Ray had a complicated look, his eyes were hard as he stared at Lincoln.
"Tress....you forgot to give me your number." Lincoln spoke tenderly to Treasure, causing Ray to become jealous and infuriated...
"Oh! Totally forgot...let me get my phone...just a sec please." Treasure zipped her bagpack open and searched for her phone. When she found it she handed it to him through the car window.
"Treasure what are you doing with him?" Ray matched up to Treasure in long strides. Treasure had a cheerful smile and her eyes lit with happiness, Ray didn't like that look at all.
"He's my new friend now."
