His fate was predetermined: fight, defend, and perish with the stars, a mere cog in the great machinery of creation. But something within him resisted this cruel fate. A seed of defiance sprouted in his heart, whispering of freedom. He sought a way to transcend the cosmic chains—to escape, to defy destiny, to seize freedom at any cost. As a mortal, he felt the agony of watching his loved ones wither and die, powerless to stop the decay of time. He wept for children, lovers, friends. As an emperor, he conquered kingdoms and wielded unimaginable power, only to be betrayed by those he trusted most, dragged from his throne, and executed in shame. As a beggar, he wandered the streets, starving and shivering under the cold gaze of uncaring gods. As a villain, he became the monster in stories told to frighten children—burning cities, drowning nations in blood, only to be hunted and killed by the heroes of those same tales. As a saint, he gave everything—his wealth, his strength, his life—to others, only to discover that gratitude was fleeting and the world did not remember the sacrifices of the righteous. But, Every failure, every death, every betrayal—they were nothing but steps on a long, infinite path. And the path had only one direction: up, through the layers of existence, through the fabric of reality itself. No prison could contain him. No curse could hold him. His heart whispered one thing to him, a truth carved into his soul:Move forward. Always forward. Because he was Li Shenrong—the Lord of the Celestial Throne.
Xia an's blade was just a meter's length away from Li shenrong.
But suddenly he felt stifled because his slash was firmly stopped by a dagger held by Wu xia.
The crowd gasped in surprise by Wu xia's choice. She was willing to fight the young master of Xia clan for a young man. That was unexpected.
They didn't know that Li shenrong was Wu clan's guest so they thought he was a friend of Wu xia.
"Miss Wu! Why are you so persistent on opposing my Xia clan?" Xia an spoke with extreme anger, losing his rationality completely. He couldn't stand the fact that the girl he liked so much was defending a man he want to kill.
"Opposing your Xia clan? What does it have to do with your Xia clan? Can you even represent your whole clan? As expected, yoy really are a trash." Wu xia spoke coldly, stark contrast to her earlier shy and meek appearance.
Xia an responded with a fierce swing of his sword. He tried to avoid Wu xia and strike a blow to Li shenrong who was standing behind her.
Seeing this Wu xia snorted coldly. She stretched out her left hand, sending a palm shot at his shoulder with full force.
Xia an felt a lethal threat from her palm shot so he quickly tried to dodge.
Following this, Wu xia took the initiative and launched a flurry of attacks one after another. Xia an fell into a passive state instantly.
"How is this possible!" Xia an panicked. He hadn't expected her to be so strong, to the point of suppressing him completely.
No matter what technique he used, she was able to neutralise it or break through it.
"Nothing is impossible." Wu xia smirked with a mocking laughter.
The onlookers were surprised yet again. Wu xia was the youngest daughter of the Wu clan leader.
She was eighteen years old and very talented, already at the initial stage of bone tempering realm. But they never imagined that she could bypass two small realms and battle a late stage bone tempering realm expert.
"Am i seeing things? Wu clan's young mistress is so strong that she could bypass two realms to battle her enemy?"
"Look how relaxed she is, it seems she haven't gone all out yet."
"How did she cultivate? No that's not important. Bring back my sweet and shy Wu xia!" Someone cried out sorrowfully.
As time passed, Wu xia's moves were getting more ferocious. She used her whole body as a weapon, directly targeting Xia an's vital points.
Damn it… this can't go on like this. What should i do? This is Taixiu mointain so I can't even call for reinforcements."
Cold sweat dropped down from Xia an's forehead as he kept thinking of a countermeasure. There was no way for him to fight back at all. He was completely focused on dodging, if not he'd die.
"Wu xia! We don't have to fight to death. Do you want a war with our Xia clan by killing me?" He shouted.
As injuries accumulated in his body, fear of death crept inside his heart.
From the beginning till now Li shenrong was watching everything unfold with a smile on his face.
Suddenly a black shadow flashed and a person appeared beside him like a ghost. Before anyone could react, the person had a dagger in his hand which was already an inch away from Li shenrong's throat.
"I have been waiting for you." Li shenrong smirked as his eyes moved.
The person who just appeared like a ghost thrusted his dagger with lightning speed. Just as his dagger was about to penetrate a bloody hole in Li shenrong's throat, he stopped.
Or rather his dagger was stuck and couldn't move an inch forward. Because Li shenrong's left hand was already holding the dagger in between his two finger, firmly keeping it in place.
Li shenrong moved his body slightly and used his right hand to throw out a punch. His godly physique which was at full completion broke out with unparalleled power.
The sneak attacker was caught off guard as the punch landed on his stomach.
'Boom'
His whole body was thrown in midair as he landed on the ground with a loud sound.
A person slowly stood up from the ground in everyone's full view. He wore a black robe and a black hood covering his head. His face was also hidden beneath a weirdly designed mask.
Only a pair of cold and emotionless eyes could be seen.
Spectators took a deep breath after seeing the man with mask.
"Who is he? He dared an attempt to kill someone in Taixiu mountain."
"He is wearing a fox mask, means he is an assassin from the Nine fox king pavilion."
"No wonder, so he is from the Nine fox king pavilion."
"What is the Nine fox king pavilion? Why haven't i heard of it before?" Some younger folks had never heard of the name Nine fox pavilion.
"Nine fox pavilion is a mysterious assassin organisation. They do all kind of dirty works for money. It is said that they are spread all over the Sword sea continent. They are extremely secretive so very few people knows about them."
Wu xia who was fighting Xia an quickly stopped her fight and arrived beside Li shenrong. She stood infront of him, glaring at the fox masked man with her dagger shining coldly.
