As the battle between Mordret and the five men raged on, Damien was consumed by frustration. Sweat poured down his face as he grappled with the complexity of the Tyrant's mental barrier. "Damn this beast! Its mental defense is impenetrable! How am I supposed to break through?" His plan to capture the Tyrant before Mordret's arrival and use its power to obliterate the entire village, along with Mordret and his servant, was thwarted by the Tyrant's formidable mental strength.
The reason Damien couldn't launch a full-scale attack on Mordret was that he needed a significant number of people to maintain a special rune formation. Similar to the healing rune formation in Mordret's room, this one drained the target's mental defenses at the cost of a tremendous amount of essence. However, no matter how much essence the group of twenty-five people channeled into the runes beneath the Tyrant, it was futile if the Tyrant's resistance nullified the effect.
