Chapter 22: Scenes from a Cake Shop Part I

Miranda Dallas watched Ade direct his crew like a Tasmanian Devil, zooming from here to there, trying to get everything ready for the "Big Surprise." She was not impressed by what she saw.

Ade was clearly the wrong man for the job, out of his element, overwhelmed--another in a long line of questionable hires Grayson made when he put the show together. She had plans in motion to make big changes to the show.

But, first things first...

Raking her eyes over the set, Miranda couldn't find any sign of Casey. Or Grayson.

Miranda turned to her assistant. "Raye, I have an assignment for you."

Raye looked up from the schedule she was organizing on her phone. The glare from outside glinted across her spectacles. "Yes, Ms. Dallas?"

"With my attention focused on managing this production as a whole, I'm unable to keep both eyes on Ms. Shock as I'd hoped. I need you to take the lead on that."

"Yes, Ms. Dallas."
