Prologue

A long long time ago, there existed 3 worlds. Each guided and ruled by an entity of pure light. They were known as Lumen. Having ruled over their respective worlds for over a million years, the Lumens were the absolute authority. Every word they spoke was the absolute law. However, the Lumens weren't that fond of each other. In fact, they hated each other's existence. They hated the fact that they had to share the title of The Strongest with each other. Over the years as the hatred grew, each Lumen started orchestrating a plan to get rid of the other two. To not only rule over all the three worlds alone but also to become the One. The One figure of authority that everyone will have to answer to. The One whom everyone feared. The One who was the strongest.

A thousand years ago, the tension between the Lumens reached its boiling point and an all-out war broke out. All three worlds - Yakaria, Benad, and Xezar participated in it. The war continued for a decade leaving innumerable casualties and deaths in its wake. Waking up each day to more death and despair, the population of the three worlds soon started to grow weary of the war. They felt as if they were being used as mere objects by the Lumens to stroke their own egos. The greed for gaining absolute authority had turned the Lumens blind. They were never going to stop until there was only one of them left standing. The common people residing in their worlds had to pay the price dearly.

As another decade of suffering passed, the people of the three worlds decided to act. Somehow the wretched war managed to bring the common people of the worlds together. They came to the conclusion that they would have to rise up against the three Lumens if they had to save their worlds from imminent annihilation. But taking down literal Gods was almost impossible.

After months of discussion, they all came to an agreement. Defeating the Gods would take an enormous sacrifice. A sacrifice on a scale none of the worlds had ever witnessed before. Each World was to put forward one commoner with a pure soul. Each of the selected Commoners would be called a Champion. Two-thirds of each world's population would then go on to sacrifice their lives in order to feed the champions with enough life force that would make them strong enough to take on even a God. The people of the worlds believed that if they wanted to bring peace, a sacrifice of that scale was necessary. The ones who sacrificed themselves didn't regret their decisions. They thought of themselves as Heroes.

Thus the three selected Champions: Argos Mailefihi from Xezar, Kaylein Montfort from Benad, Xalvador Terrowin from Yakaria set out to put an end to the war carrying not only their comrades' life forces within them but also their hopes and dreams.

The Battle Against Light, as it came to be known years later, was something that couldn't be described by mere words. It was a spectacle. Three normal beings going up against Gods was unheard of. And yet, they managed to do the impossible. They managed to not only defeat the Lumens but seal them within themselves. Away from any light.

Over a thousand years have passed since then. The three worlds are now termed Kingdoms, each a part of one unified world named Pruris. The three Champions who brought freedom to their people were unanimously elected as Kings of each of these Kingdoms and they continue to rule peacefully ever since.

Arthur looked up at the clock as he put the book aside. The History of The World had always been one of his favorites. No matter how many times he read it, he still felt the same admiration towards the people of the three worlds who took a stand against injustice.

Even though he wanted to read a bit more, he couldn't let himself get distracted that day. He had some incredibly important business to take care of. By profession, Arthur was a Blacksmith. A prodigious one at that. Once word of his skills spread across the three Kingdoms, he was soon laden with job requests. One of his most cherished clients was none other than Argos Mailefihi, one of the three who defeated a Lumen a thousand years ago.

A year back, Arthur received a letter from the Royal Palace of Xezar. He couldn't believe his eyes when he realized that the letter was sent by the King himself. In the letter, the King had personally requested Arthur to forge a new sword for him. Arthur had taken this request to heart and had spent the last year forging a sword that would have no rivals.

The day to deliver the sword had finally arrived. As he packed the sword and got ready to leave for the palace, he noticed unrest in the otherwise peaceful streets of Xezar. People crying on the streets, people fighting amongst each other. Something was definitely not right. As he tried to make some sense out of whatever was happening, Arthur noticed his friend Alexander sitting on the street with a hollow expression on his face. Wondering what was wrong, he decided to ask Alexander about it.

"Is everything all right? What is happening?" Arthur asked Alexander.

Alexander looked up at Arthur with a face that could burst into tears any moment, and said -

"He is dead. King Argos. He was found dead in his chambers this morning."

This is the first time I am ever writing a web novel (I guess it is evident given how sloppy the writing must have felt). However, if you guys do support me in this journey, I am sure I will improve.
