Chapter 8 - Hunting

"Hunting zombies isn't hard, all we have to worry about is if an abomination is around or not but still anything could happen so we have to gear up," Bella said

The group went to gear up and after a while, they came back under the tree, Bella had a bow across her back, while Kimberly had a crossbow, and Tylor had a katana and a Japanese-style wooden shield, when asked how he got it, he simply laughed before saying he found it in a Japanese restaurant while Trevor had his trustee machete.

After some input on how they should act and what to take note of the group set out under the gaze of many who thought they were stupid to go out to risk their lives instead of staying where it was safe.

Trevor and the others sneak around one of the many destroyed buildings around the Tower, the invisible dome around the Tower around the size is a football pitch, so they have to walk a little bit longer to leave the protection of the dome back into the chaos outside.

The group had not even gone that far when they met a group of zombies, the number of the zombie group was around 7, "Shit that's a zombie pack, stay down" Tylor said in a low voice, after sending so longer in the apocalypse the survivors had come up with different names for different zombie type and the one before was called a Zombie Pack like the name suggest they are a group of Zombies that move together, it was the smaller version of a horde but that doesn't mean it was weak.

A pack zombie was stronger than normal zombies, nobody knows why, the more the number of zombies in the pack the stronger the zombies, so seeing 7 zombies in a pack brought fear into their minds.

Trevor signaled Bella and Kimberly to get closer to him as they did he whispered to them "How good are you with your weapons we might not need to go further to look for zombies if we can take care of this pack" Bella and Kimberly both looked at each other before looking at Trevor, he had not said anything since the meeting and now he was suggesting that the 4 of them should take down a zombie pack by themselves.

Seeing the excitation in their eyes he said "Although they are a pack zombie that doesn't mean they have human intelligence, what the two of you need to do is shoot at the same zombie, it must be a head shot, I reckon it should take 2 or 3 arrows to the head before we can drop on, and that will reduce their power a little bit" Bella and Kimberly nodded before getting a little bit closer.

Kimberly placed her bolt Into her crossbow while Bella knotted her arrow they both looked at each other and nodded, they shot the arrow at the zombie but Trevor couldn't help but facepalm as they shot at different targets.

He signaled at Tylor to follow him as they sneaked across towards the now agitated zombies, when he got to a safe distance he raised his hand signaling The archers before pointing towards one of the zombies that were hit, the archers nodded before they shot at the zombie he had pointed at, the zombie fell and then it happened, the body if the zombie disappeared leaving behind a Dark roughly shaped crystal.

Seeing one of their companions fall and fell their strengths reduce a bit one of the zombies raised its head towards the sky and was about to scream "Shit a Screamer" Tylor rushed towards the zombie before with his sword in the air slashing at the zombie, the slash was not enough to kill it but it stopped it from screaming and that as what Tylor was aiming for, now that they had seen that Bella might be right Tylor didn't care if he got bit as long as they could take this crystal back to base the others might have a chance to restore the world to what it was.

Seeing Tylor rush out to stop the screamer among the zombie pack, Trevor followed him as Tylor knocked the Zombie variant off its legs preventing it from calling more zombies Trevor jumped on the Screamer pinning it on the floor before using his machete to decapitate the Zombie Screamer, he was surprised that he was able to kill it in one move, what would have taken more than 3 strikes.

But now was not the time to think about it as he felt a zombie closing in on him, he immediately rolled to the side before springing up to his feet, and even Tylor jumped back towards him "What are we going to do now" Tylor asked, the Screamer Zombie had also turned into a Crystal but the color was not dark.

"Bella, Kimberly focus on the one with an arrow in its head, Tylor and I will distract the rest," Trevor said loud but not loud enough to draw the attention of other zombies if any were nearby, he gave the instructions to both Bella and Kimberly shot the other zombie and it fell dead but unlike the others it body didn't turn into crystal, but they could think about that later, 3 of the 7 zombies were now dead, reducing the strength of the zombie pack.

Tylor and Trevor both ready their weapons for the zombie attack, the 4 zombies rushed at Tylor and Trevor as they did Bella and Kimberly shot an arrow into one of the zombie's heads killing it, this zombie became a crystal, Tylor rushed forward to intercept one of the zombies with his wooden shield, while Trevor run after him, his role was clear to him it was a role he had been playing for a long time, immediately Tylor shield blocked the closest zombie, Trevor machete went into the zombie's head-turning it Into a crystal, now they had 4 crystal and 2 more zombie to kill.

It didn't take Tylor and Trevor too much to dispose of the remaining 2 Zombies one dropped a crystal and the other didn't, Trevor went ahead to pick the crystals while Tylor sat down to rest a lot bit, he had used all his energy in the battle against the Zombie pack, apart form Trevor the others couldn't believe that they just took down a zombie pack with just the 4 of them.

As they were celebrating the ground underneath them vibrated, and they heard the sounds of something running "Run it an abomination" Bella and Kimberly who were further away shouted, Tylor and Trevor didn't even bother to look back they ran towards the tower, they could hear the sound getting closer and closer, lucky they weren't that far away from the Tower, Tylor was the last person to cross into the invisible dome.

*Bang*

A loud sound could be heard across the dome, the abomination that was chasing after the group had slammed against the protective dome, Tylor's back was filled with sweat, he turned around to look at the abomination, it was massive Lion-like mutilated creature, the skin of the lion was falling off as it continued to slam itself against the invisible dome.
