Life Of A Card Maker

Originally, I thought I'd live a boring life where I would just work low-paying office jobs until I was found to have the talent for card making. It wasn't a rare talent, but it opened a more worthwhile occupation for me so I took it. Follow me, Frederick Leonheart, as I study at the campus of Burndette Academy by day while making and selling cards by night. The simple and ordinary life of a transmigrator. “Wait, I can enter the world of my cards?” ~~~ Author's note: I know, the isekai part sounds like an add-on but it's important. Why are you writing this alongside another novel and how? I'm writing two novels at a time cuz I love both ideas, and it feels suffocating to only write one novel perpetually for months or years. How I do it? Well, this one is a slice of life in another world so wouldn't this be easy to write? Romance? May be present, if I or you guys deem it right then it shall be. Anyways, if there is romance then it should be based off of my only love so you guys better not be surprised lol. (She's a real cutie, but don't ask about her or I'd probably rant about how good she is).

Creating Cards(Part 1)

"Game end! Victory!"

A monotonous female voice sounded.

~~~
"Ahk!"
Huff! Huff! Huff!
"Where am I?"
Just as the sweaty black haired man asked himself, a sweet voice entered his ears.
"Ah, sir Leonheart you're awake. How do you feel?"
She then conducted a few check-ups, as she teased, "Sir Leonheart, you don't have to react so strongly. You can always take another exam from a different university".
Eric's mind was still groggy then, as the countless memories in his mind were still being filtered. However, hearing her words still made him react and blush.
Thus, after the basic check-ups, Eric rushed to leave.
Seeing him like this, the doctor smiled, 'How cute'.
But before leaving, he went to the restrooms first to check on himself.
'Sure enough, I'm still me. Just that, these golden eyes are beautiful!'
'However, how did I get here? Was I reincarnated? Or transmigrated? Like, I still remember everything that 'I' did in this life but… I feel our personalities don't completely match so it might be a type of reincarnation'.
Just as infinite thoughts seemed to drown Eric, he turned the faucet and splashed his face.
Ding!
[Mommy: Eric, did you see the results yet?(13:45)
Mommy: Did you pass?(13:48)
Mommy: It's alright if you didn't pass Eric, you can always try again sometime 🤍(13:55)
Mommy: Eric?(14:10)]
Upon seeing this, the silhouette of his mother condensed in his eyes. A sweet motherly face with only care in her eyes.
'Even in this life, she…'
Just like that, a weak resolve to find alternatives burned from his eyes.
~~~

'And as fate would have it, old Ren found me. Although I initially thought he was a scammer with the way he looked at that time… wait no, even now'.

'Time sure does fly, it's already been a week from that time'.

With that, Eric shook his head before he continued to read his book.

The book spoke of many methods to create cards, and the two mainstream ones were to either; write a story, or to draw formulas.

The former was the common way to create summon-type cards and tool-type cards. While the latter was the common way to create domain-type cards and spell-type cards. However, both could be used interchangeably with one another. In fact, high-grade spell-type cards were usually done through story-writing.

Anyways, all these methods wouldn't work if one didn't have the ability to enter the [Void Soul Vision]. Which was an ability that allowed one to cause resonances between material-type cards and thereby combining them to form another card.

It is quite easy to cause resonances with material-type cards, the real challenge lay in the method of combination. Card makers had to make a sound reason as to why this or that combination should work to form this card, and so on and so forth.

Thinking of this, Eric's eyes sparkled.

'It's been a week since I've been studying here, and I've mostly understood the basics. I feel like I should be ready to make my first card'.

With that, he quickly took off and went to the material storage.

'Should I follow a blueprint for my first card or should I make my own? Either way, which card-type should I make first…'

Countless thoughts ran through Eric's head as he walked through the storage room. He didn't choose to use [Card Search: Area] this time, since he wanted to give himself time to think.

After a few minutes of scuttling around, Eric sat down at the reception desk with a stack of miscellaneous material-type cards.

'I'm lucky that I have someone like old Ren to support me in my early stages of my career, so why should I follow a blueprint? I want to make my own card first of course'.

As for the card-type he chose, it was a tool-type card. It was a pair of glasses to be precise.

'Summon-type and spell-type cards might damage the store, while domain-type cards are too high end. A tool-type card is just perfect for practice, and based on the concept I have for it—it should be the best card for a beginner like me'.

Even though he sounded arrogant initially, he still didn't want to waste old Ren's money. Thus, he chose to start with a simple and low-grade card. However, because the materials he was using was of low-grade then chances are that the card he made would have bad effects.

'If I don't want my first card to have bad effects, I need to create a very reasonable story. Both through the materials used and the background of the card'.

With that, Eric opened his phone and started typing out a story. The initial concept was, "A scholar used this pair of glasses. Although it wasn't graded, and were simply decorations, it helped the scholar calm his mind and think better".

After a few minutes of fleshing it out, satisfaction bloomed on Eric's face. With that part done, based on the story he made, he started to choose which material cards were best fit.

In the end, he ended up with five cards.

As obvious as it was; the wood, sand, and iron were the main materials used for making the glasses. While the spirit dust was used to be the 'reason' for the glasses' calming effects. And lastly, the craftsmanship card was used in order to raise the success rate of card creation.

After making sure that everything was in line, Eric smiled and said, "It's time to start!"

His eyes glowed ever so brightly as his vision switched from the mortal plane to a dark and empty void. However, in reaction to his presence, stars suddenly lit up the void.

This was the [Void Soul Plane], a plane interconnected with reality but also distant from it. A parallel reality of sorts.

Sorry for the late update, we suddenly have exams for tomorrow. So I had to study even just a little bit. Anyways, this shouldn't take long.
