Life of a Black Man in America

To Ko Be survival was only meant for a select few. Not that he was a fatalist, but more pragmatic in his views. Statistics are statistics for a reason, they are numbers that nerds have compiled and crunched over a variety of subjects. Being a nerd himself, he understands the importance of carefully cataloging empirical data. Even when the data is only the whitewashed history won by gunpowder and disease. Ko Be was a firm believer that in every lie there were three truths and in every truth three lies. This line of thinking has forced him into a self-imposed exile from society. Seeing the hypocrisy and blatant misinformation of the masses led him to believe most people don't wish to wake from the dream they are in. Nevertheless he stilled held hope that one day he himself would make a change that would impact generations and not just through martyrdom. Little did he know he would unconsciously manifested exactly that.

Chapter X 5 X BEGGARS X TAKERS

Red Light with his feet propped on the receptionist marble counter, was reading intently a comic book. Not being one to judge due to my overtly nerdish lifestyle, knowing that Red Light shared common interest was a little shocking. In my neighborhood we all know to take his name more serious than traffic laws.

"Before you simps speak fill out the paperwork. Legibly. "

With such a quick dismissal given me and Shakka quickly pull out pens and get to work filling out the forms that would allow us to become F-Class Hunters.

"Ko Be you really wanna do this? Where is this supreme confidence coming from?

"I woke up to the sun touching my melanin blessed skin. What reason wouldn't I have supreme confidence. I'm a supreme being."

"Nigga whatever. Them zazas got you tripping. I'm not gone let you risk your life alone. Q24L!"

[System Feature Unlocked- Party System Activated Shakka joined Party. 500 XP awarded. 1000 XP until Level Up. 500 Party XP awarded. Shakka Leveled Up.]

Life just got easier. I can essentially gain unlimited strength and skills from survival and also improve my loved ones as well. This is a blessing that won't go to waste. While filling out the paperwork I glanced at Shakka's status. All of his attributes where at 1. He has 3 unspent skill points that I invested in Endurance bringing it to 4. With this he should be at least be able to tank.

"Ko for some reason I think I feel that Supreme confidence. My body feels amazing for some reason… like I'd be able to take a punch from the legendary Ike Tyson no problem. "

"You done with your paperwork. We don't have all day"

"Almost."

Within 3 minutes we were turning our paperwork in to be legitimate Hunters.

"Are you scrubs going into the Wild Outside with your fist alone? I'm in a good mood. Follow me to the training grounds if you two can last 30 seconds in the ring with me I'll give you some supplies and equipment. If by the off chance you are able to land a blow on my beautiful visage. I, Red Light, will take you two scrubs under my tutelage. "

Without looking for our agreement Red Light quickly leads the way to the training grounds.

The training grounds took up the complete second floor. The floor above is a War Room used for stratagem meetings between The Tops in case of emergencies.

Once reaching the platform Red Light points to a rack with various weaponry.

"Pick your poison. Be quick about it!"

Seeing Shakka ,and his enormous frame, jump like a rabbit running on glass made me chuckle slightly.

"Shakka your going to be the Tank today. A Spear and a shield should do us fine for now."

Using the short time we had I prompted the system to add all of Shakka's Skill Points into his Endurance. As for my points which had grew to a total of 9 I decided to put 4 into Agility and 5 into Strength.

My body energies sudden surge almost made me buckle under its intensity. I wonder how Shakka was taking his Level Up but that will be question for another day, what's important now is will it be enough for impending trial before them.

Finding my weapon of choice was easy. I grabbed a pair of daggers and a bundle of kunai. Handing Shakka a kunai we proceeded to the training stage.

"Listen scrubs. I like a good fight. So do your best to entertain me. Also the WU isn't liable for any injuries. Understand? Good! Draw your weapons, Count starts when you are within the attack range of my fist! Any last second strategies you wanna discuss now is the time."

"Shakka, you ready?"

"As ready as I'll ever be. What's the move"

"When I say dunk throw the kunai as hard as you can, it's wooden so it shouldn't hurt to-"

Interrupted with a fist to his face Shakka couldn't help but feel bewildered. Neither of them saw Red Light move.
