Midarna City Adventure Guild

After resting in a real bed after spending two weeks inside a sleeping bag, they are refreshed and raring to go to the Adventure Guild.

-x-

"Welcome to the Adventure Guild, are you planning to register or are you already an adventurer?" a female receptionist asked with a smile.

In her mind though, is a different story.

'Looks like a bunch of newbie who want to join in for fame and glory and soon realize there is more to it,' she sneered in her mind.

"We are already registered as one. We just want look for commissions,"

'So, an experience adventurer who want to step out of the little pond. Bad news, there are no safe commissions for you,'

 "Here is our badges,"

'Oh, just Bronze badge... Wait, bronze badge! And five of them! So that means all of them are Bronze-Rank adventurers!'

-x-

"Hello?" Kell waved his hand in front of the woman, who bluescreened for some reason.

"I am sorry for my misconduct. So, you want to ask something?" the woman asked.

"Yeeess," Kell said, feeling something wrong with the woman.

"Sure, what do you want to ask?"

"I want to know the different types of commissions, C-rank preferably," Kell replied.

"Sure. The most common C-rank commissions in this city is escort commissions, issued by the city official itself. All you need to do is escort miners into the mines and make sure they are safe. This types of commissions usually last for almost the entire day.

Then, there are the gathering commissions. While gathering commissions at your previous town is likely merely E-rank, here, it's C-rank, at least one that require you to brave the Darna Forest.

The forest is filled with many monsters, from simple goblins and slimes, to orcs, kobolds, and even lizardmen. The commission boards for C-rank is over there, by the way," she pointed at a hallway with 5 large boards.

They nodded, taking it all in before heading to the boards. There, they found all kind of commissions.

[ Requesting 5 Blood Stag Antler ]

[ Requesting Escort. Must be Bronze Rank with at least 2 Person. Maximum 5 Person. ]

[ Requesting Orc Extermination. Large Present of Orcs detected in Darna Forest, near the boundaries. ]

...

"Looks like there is a lot of commissions. Should we take the escort one?" Fiona pointed to one of the escort commissions.

"Not for now. I think we should get used to the life here for now. So, we should start with something we familiar with, namely extermination and gathering.

Considering we don't know how dangerous this place is, we should stay as a group, even if we all are Bronze-Rank adventurers," Kell decided. Ian merely nodded.

After all, they have agreed to let Kell lead them. He is there for advising, but in the ends the decision fall squarely on Kell's very broad shoulder.

"No one disagree. Then we will take an orc determination commission," Kell decided.

-x-

"Looks like those newbie want to try hunting orcs,"

"Eh, they will soon come back here, either badly injured or lose some members,"

"Yeah, if goblins the bane of Gravel, then orcs are the bane of Bronze,"

"True, I remember being chased by them. Only those at the middle of the Bronze Rank can handle them without breaking a sweat,"

"Yes, let wait to watch a very good show,"

-x-

In less than an hour, they returned.

"Wait, why are they not injured?"

"Maybe they run away when they are outmatch?"

"Make sense. At least they are smart enough to survive as adventurers,"

"Here, this is all of the orcs magic core," Kell exclaimed as he put a pouch filled with magic cores the size of a baseball.

"You exterminate all of them?" the receptionist asked, the hearing adventurers also have the same questions. "But they seem to be more than what the commission information?"

"Well, there is another tribe nearby, so we decided to just exterminate them as well. They put up a good fight but it did not last that long," Kell explained with a disappointed look.

"Wait, they defeat the first orcs tribe, and then proceed to defeat another one?!"

 "That is impossible, right?"

"Unless they at the middle of the Bronze Rank, which then make their achievement much more believable,"

"Please wait a moment," the receptionist left the counter, running as she seem to be searching for something at the commission boards. Soon, she found what she had been looking for and grabbed another commission.

"Looks like you just did another commission without knowing about it. Considering your party exterminate orcs, then you are viable to get the rewards even if you don't take the commission in the first place," the receptionist told them.

"Is that so, but please keep it for now," seeing her puzzled look, he explained, "My party will take another commission, this time exterminating a large kobold tribe," he said before taking out the commission.

"Is that so. In that case, please return before nightfall or you might lose your rewards,"

-x-

As they promised, they return before nightfall.

"Here are the kobold's magic core," Kell said, beaming as he dropped the large sack filled with kobolds' magic cores.

"Like you said, and I assume you did an extra commission as well," the receptionist said.

"Not this time, we just exterminate the kobold and return after we are done," Kell replied.

"An hour, it took you an hour to exterminate a large kobold's tribe," she muttered.

"There are a lot of kobolds, and there are fast but we managed to kill them all," Kell exclaimed.

"Alright, you did your commissions so I have to do my job as well. Let me count all of this first,"

-x-

"Three C-rank commissions, not to mention how many kobolds and orcs you exterminate, you earned 20 gold coins," the receptionist said.

"Damn, I never earned that many in a single day,"

"Try to complete three C-rank commissions, then you can earned just as much,"

"No way, I am not insanely strong like them,"

As the people inside the building argue among one another, Kell took the gold coins and left with his party, eager to take a much needed rest.

-x-

 "So, rest day?" Lisa asked.

 "Rest day," Fiona agreed.

"Rest day," Ana agreed as well.

"Rest day," Ian said, voicing his agreement.

"Fine, you all want to rest. You get your rest day," Kell conceded. Then again, with how much they earned, they don't need to go take commissions daily.
