Now if you had to describe a wizard your first thought would probably be Gandalf with his gray hat, white beard and tall old man figure. This was my first thought when I was told to meet the headmaster of the school because you know witch and wizard school wizardy headmaster.
This was completely wrong as it turns out he's a munchkin bearly up to my waist with enough wrinkles on his face that I couldn't see his eyes properly. He didn't have a beard either so no stroking it to sound wisdomfull but I was right about the hat so take that imaginary person I was arguing with.
I need some friends.
While waiting for today I'd figured out how to change my looks or colour of any part of my body at least, this had caused an orb in my collection to gain colour but never seemed to decide on one as it switched between them all like a rainbow it was pretty to watch.
To mark this opportunity I'd taken some time to create my new look. Brown hair that came down to my ears that was a bit messy from my traveling, Some tan skin enough that I wouldn't stand out and I'd made my snappers like glass so if I broke there invisibility people will think their seeing things. I hope. But strangly enough I couldn't change my eye colour no matter how much I tried, dam.
"So mr Lazuris you are a Nightmare wishing to study both healing magic and terra magic at this school?" Nightmares were something akin to dream demons who thrived off your fear when you slept by giving you nightmares, saying I was one had two purposes. One to get a room alone as you don't want to give one any temptation by sleeping someone next to them and two I wanted to keep my horns out and Nightmares were known to have horns.
The magic I picked was more on instinct as this school let's you change every week to find out what you had an affinity with because as advanced as this world was they can only tell if you have magic not which you can use. This works in my advantage as I can unlock my orbs then move on to the next class improving them in my own time.
"That is correct." I responded.
"You do understand Mr Lazuris that the chance of a dream demon such as yourself possessing any type of light magic is slim right."
"Yes however I do wish to learn how it works as when I dream there are no limitations to what I can do." Ability to bullshit level 100.
"I see, just know that the professor of each subject can remove you from their class if they think your holding the rest back and you may choose another subject then." Basically if I don't have any affinity they'll ask me to leave. Better learn fast.
"I understand."
"Good then this is for you." Handing me a rough drawing of the schools layout he briefly outlined where my dorm was as well as where the cafeteria and class changing room were before escorting me out saying he had other students to see, I did notice he didn't mention where my classes were, interesting.
Taking his drawing I placed it on top of the map mother gave me only half surprised when it 'ate' it now displaying a more accurate picture of the academy with yellow dots on important places but when I focused on them they came up blank. Seems I need to fill it in as I go, cool. I could also put markers of importance on the map these came up blue.
Taking a look on the map towards where my dorm was I started walking taking a slight detour to explore campus. My first thought was it was huge! The campus had one main building that the headmaster was in this one had a clock tower that was used by everyone to tell when class starts and food is being served and most of the staff accommodation, the rest of the compound seemed to be devided into areas based on the subject the only exception was the large area for food and a building that made clothes that doubles as the class changing place with dorms scattered everywhere in between, my guess is that you stayed in the one closest to your preferred subject if you were allowed. I wonder how you change dorms? Not that it mattered as my dorm was located away from everything with what seemed like abandoned class areas located either side and a graveyard in front. Perfect if I wanted to stretch my snappers out. As I walked around aimlessly I noticed something quite amusing, there was a lot of none humans walking around in uniforms and I know that was expected because they let me in but the ratio was about even. I was expecting demies to be well out numbered and almost dispised by human spell casters. Finishing up my self tour after taking a long look at a reptilian girl who was having trouble keeping her skirt down as her tail kept lifting it up, in the shadows of course. I aproch where my dorm is.
Walking through the graveyard I gave a quick wave to the graveyard keeper who was almost surprised to see me then continued to my dorm.
Abandoned was the first thing that came to my mind with the weeds growing almost everywhere and the fact the 3 story building in front of me had only half of its windows the other half broken with some of the glass still on the ground outside. This is perfect. So long as one room is in decent shape I'll be fine and with this look of abandoned no one should come here unless their looking for me.
Applying a little bit of effort to open the door as it seemed to be blocked by a bookshelf I ended up breaking it... Oops but hey I'm in and this place really feels empty, apart from the bookshelf that I'd tipped over to get in there is nothing here no furniture no carpet not even a painting. Placing the map inside my bag I walked around checking all the rooms out as I went finding much of the same just empty rooms some of the doors didn't hang properly on there hinges and others were scattered on the floor. Picking out what looked to be the biggest and lest mould infested room I started unpacking not that I had much 1 map, some gold and a single change of clothes. While the room looked bare without a bed I didn't need to sleep for about a month at least even after my run here.
"Now what to do."
"How about leave." Someone growled behind me. That's weird I could have sworn I checked every room there was no one here.
"Can't sorry was sent here so I can learn. I was given this dorm and when I couldn't find anyone decided to take this room" Turning around I found myself looking at a dark skinned woman with horns pointing towards the heavens, jet black wings and a long tail with an upside down heart on the tip. Her face was beautiful with dark purple hair cut perfectly at her neckline with every movement she made looked alluring.
"There are plenty of other dorms much closer to any class so please pick up your things and leave."
"As tempting as that is I doubt they want a nightmare so close when they sleep so I was sent here." She stared at me for a little bit raising an eyebrow.
"Your not a nightmare." A cold sweat ran down my back, if she is what I think she is, she might know what a true nightmare is. Dam of all the places to run into another dream demon please believe me and just leave.
"Yes I am, do you think I would want to live in a place like this just to learn some magic if I wasn't?" Walking up to me with a nice sway to her hips she gently put a finger on my forehead.
"Prove it." And with that simple phrase my world turned black.
