Chapter 21: Preludes to the Apex

I was planning to have mc jump to different world so I didn't know weather to go with anime or games but I've been thinking and realized a lot of people just throw theirs in anime,games or movies.

Facing the towering creature Owen moved first charging forward spear pointed forward as he quickly close the gap between him and the nightmare who quickly began to coalesce a purple ball of engery in front of it's body which once shot out went flying directly towards the charging Owen.

*Screeech*

Not bothering to dodge Owen swung the spear in his hands at the purple engery ball which didn't move that fast to begin with and only seemed to move slower thanks to his body being strengthened by [Polearm mastery], the only thing he did not expect was the sound as if metal was grinding against metal, but not being shook he deflected the blast to the side and into container which now hosted a massive depression on its side.

Owen ignoring this continued moving towards the nightmare and lunged forward with his spear aiming skewer the nightmare something it was not to keen on as it raised it's claw knocking Owens spear to the side causing him to move past the nightmare but being ready for this Owen wasted no time pivoting as he slashed the lower back of the nightmare causing it to release noise similar to gurgling and screaming as it tried to swipe at Owen who was not able to fully dodge as a giant claw marks appeared on his mark appeared on the body of his as he slid away out of reach of the followup attack of the nightmare.

'wierd it only stings?' Owen thought as he dragged his free hand over the wound which stretched from his shoulder all the way to his belly button a wound that would normally leave him writhing in pain.

'Guess skills are more mental than I think' Owen thought as he didn't waste much time thinking about it Owen refocused on his opponent which was slowly becoming transparent as it began to blend into its surroundings.

'Shit that must be how it got so close the first time!' Owen thought alarmed as he without much thought stood straight pulling back his arm with the spear and launched the spear towards the slowly disappearing nightmare.

Sadly the spear missed as the nightmare became completely invisible, while Owen realizing what he did began to dash towards his spear that lay idly on the ground while taking out nullwaves and began to set them off inside his hands in hope that if the nightmare approach its location would be revealed sadly that didn't happen as Owen not even half way to his spear felt something sharp cutting through his leg.

'Shit' that's all Owen can think as he fell slamming his face into the floor which was luckily protected by the helmet Owen leaving Owen only slightly shaken as he quickly took out a medkit, quickly using the two syringes and stabbed them into his leg as he quickly stood up and began limping towards the spear this time changing up his strat as he began firing gloo in every direction around him, which proved effective as several times he found himself able to avoid the nightmare thanks to it being revealed by gloo that occasionally stuck to it.

Eventually Owen finally obtained his spear and to say he felt any more secure would not be a lie as he backed up against a container waiting for any signs of the nightmare something he did not have to wait long for as he noticed small disturbance in the air in front of him prompting him to strike forward with his spear.

His attack struck true as what seemed like empty air began to be filled out by the massive visage of the nightmare which began to materialize before him it's body impaled on his spear but Owen knew better than to think this would finish it as he immediately let go of the shaft as he took out a the Q-beam and began to unload the laser weapons into its chest with the nightmare unable to restist as it was quickly turned into nothing but smoldering remnants of it's former self.

'Finally!' Owen thought as he breathed deeply as he collapsed to the floor exhausted as he only had the strength to read the notification that popped into his vision.
