Chapter 2

I walk back and forth while biting my nail. Is that really Krios? As in my baby Krios?! But how?! Is this a dream? If yes, please don't make me wake up yet, I still need to see him later!! While I was drowning in my thoughts, someone from outside knock on the door.

"Good morning Duchess, this is the head maid. We have prepared your bath, can we come in now?"

I immediately stop what I was doing and hurriedly open the door. I saw a middle aged women and beside her are three ladies who look like in there 20's. They immediately enter the big bucket of water into the room and help me took off my clothes. While washing me, I can't keep being quiet and ask them a question.

"Ah- is my ba- ahem, is Krios still at the manor? Or did he already have leaved?"

They stop washing me and bow down in front of me. The head maid immediately speaks and explains the situation.

"Master Krios has left the manor. As what I have heard from his assistance, Mr. Lorence, I believed Master Krios are now travelling towards the forest near the dukedom to kill the monster that has been lingering in there. I think they would stay there for few weeks."

Wait, hunting monster? Would my Krios be fine? Well, Krios has the title of being a great knight and he's the second to the Royal family in term of wealth and power. I really do hope he will come back safe. After taking a bath, the servant immediately helps me wear my clothes and also help me put accessories. Well, knowing Liliana, she loves accessories and that's why she kept spending my baby Krios money---- wait! If I become Liliana, then that means I can change the flow of the story and make sure my baby Krios won't get hurt! Oh my, thank you so much God!! After preparing myself, I immediately walk towards my office (well, I become Liliana so this is my office now keke). When I entered my office, I immediately called the head butler. Just after a few minutes, the head butler entered the office and bow down in front of me.

"Greetings to the sword of the Kingdom, Duchess of Eagleton."

I smile at the head butler and started to do my interrogation. I asked him about the monthly money the manor used, the Duke used, the head butler used, the head maid used and also the money I used. He excused himself and ran so fast to gather the necessary documents I need. When he came back, I saw him holding a big pile of document, uhhh, this would be a lot of work. When the head butler leaved the room, I immediately scan the pile of document and one by one I try to understand what's written on every pages. Most of them are about the monthly expenses on food, woods and other stuff needed in the mansion. While scanning through the document, I saw a file about the head maid used the mansion money to buy a new dress for her. I set aside the document I saw but the following document make me shock. Either the head maid or some of the knights using the mansion's money to buy stuff for their personal use. Does Krios knows about this? Or does Liliana let them? well, based on the novel, Liliana doesn't really care about the well-being of this mansion, she let the head butler and head maid do everything, as long as she can spend Krios money and flirt with the King, she's fine with it. But not anymore, now that I've become Liliana, I will change everything. Based on Krios reaction this morning, that means that today is our first day of being husband and wife. My face immediately become red by just imagining the steamy night we have shared. I immediately composed myself because it would be hard if someone saw me being like that. So, back to our topic, I still have a lot of time before Liliana starts to cheat on Krios and flirts or go out with the King. I can still make things go to the correct path. First thing I need to do is to change the system of this mansion. After I thoroughly scan every document, I called the head butler and head maid into my office. After a few minutes, both of them have arrive and they greeted me.

"Greetings to the sword of the Kingdom, Duchess of Eagleton."

I looked at them for a while before I spoke. Well, the head maid is wearing a simple dress that is appropriate to her job but I noticed that she's wearing some accessories on her body. I cleared my throat and started the interrogation.

"Head butler, all of these documents are the monthly expenses of this mansion right?"

"Yes, my Lady."

"So, head maid, how can you explain all of these numbers written here?"

I hand her the piece of paper, which where I have written the total of money she has used on these past few months. Her eyes immediately widen and she started to tremble as she looked at the piece of paper. Before she can speak, I immediately cut her off.

"I saw everything I need to see, so there's no need for you to explain everything. I hereby fired you and to never set foot into this mansion."

I turned my back and she started to cry and shout as the head butler pull her away. Haaa, I didn't know that this would be such a hard job. After I settled the issue with the head maid, I asked the head butler to call the following knights so my office. When they have arrived, I showed them the expenses they have make that is not related to the well-being of this mansion but rather it's simple for their own greediness. It was already afternoon when I have finished everything, I sit down and release a big sigh. Who have thought that being a noble is such a hard job? No wonder why the real Liliana didn't do anything related to it and just spend every money Krios made. As soon as the sun disappear, I walk out from the office and walk straight to our room. As soon as I entered the room, I took a bath and change into a night gown. As I was combing my hair, I called one of the maid that's working directly to me.

"Elen, can you take some of the documents that are on my table, in my office? I want to read them before I go to sleep."

She bows down and walk towards my office. After I combed my hair, I immediately lay down on the bed and look outside. The moon is visible tonight and the night breeze is cold, I hope Krios is warm up while sleeping. As I was drowned with my thoughts, Elen entered the room and gave me the documents I need. She immediately excuses herself I started to read them one by one. After reading some documents, I feel my eyes started to feel drowsy so I put down the documents and drove to dreamland.

"Let's do these papers tomorrow, I feel sleepy now~"

In the middle of my sleep. I can feel something is touching my face. It feels warm and I immediately snuggled myself more to feel the warm. I heard myself kept saying Krios name as I snuggle myself into the block of warmth. I was about to open myself when I felt someone covered my eyes and I immediately drove to dreamland. When I woke up, the sun was already visible and Elen entered my room with a tray of foods on her hand. When she put down my food, she bows down and was about to excuse herself when I stopped her. She looks back with a confuse look but I tap the space beside me to gesture her to sit beside me. She look so confused but I pass her a piece of bread and she immediately eat it.

"It's okay, let's say this is my reward for giving me the documents last night."

I smiled on her and continue to eat. When I was reading the novel, the real Liliana are somewhat mean to Elen. Well, Elen was from a fallen noble family so for Liliana, it was normal to treat her like as if she's no different from a commoner. I felt bad for her so as long as I'm Liliana, I'm going to treat her properly. After we have eaten our meal, Elen helped me to get ready for my battle. After I feel like I look okay, I immediately walk towards my office. When I arrive on my room, I saw the mountain of documents on top of my table, I feel like my yesterday's work didn't affect the mountain of document in front of me. Now, let the battle begin!!
