Chapter 1

Rain pelted against the window panes as dark, ragged clouds filled the once bright and sunny sky. The tumultuous sound of thunder caused the young one to wake from her slumber.

Adding to the sounds of rain and thunder, her phone rang wildly. The girl lazily stretched her right arm to grab her phone that was placed on the nightstand.

"Yoongles ❤💀" She saw, written on the screen of her phone. She swiped the green button upwards, answering the call of her best friend.

"Hyerin, are you okay? Are you sick? Are you cold? Is the weather annoying you today? Have you eaten breakfast yet? Have you showered? Did you have a good sleep?" Yoongi bomarded the girl with questions.

"Yoongi, i'm fine. You don't have to worry so much about me. Anyways, I just woke up so I have not showered or eaten my breakfast. And no, I am not sick and neither am I cold. The weather is not annoying me yet and I did indeed have a good sleep. Thank you for asking." Hyerin replied in a raspy voice due to the fact that she literally just woke up.

"Sorry if I annoyed you with all the questions. I'm just really worried about you. I'm doing some work right now so I can't come over to your house to check on you. I really wish I could, though. Has your father gone out for work? After I'm done with mine, I'll rush over to yours to give you a hug and make sure you're comfortable." Yoongi said, again worrying too much about Hyerin.

"I'm pretty sure my father has gone out to work and I really do want to see you. I feel like I haven't seen you in months. Please come over quickly, I don't have any plans today. Well, of course I don't; I can't even go out of my house."

"Alright, I'll try to finish my work fast. Make sure to have your breakfast first, okay?"

"Okay. See you later." Hyerin said, waiting for a reply but instead the call just ended there. Yoongi had ended the call. That rarely happens; usually, she would be the one who ended the call first.

Well, she wouldn't want to think Yoongi hates her. How could he possibly after worrying so much and caring about her?

"He probably really wants to complete his work faster so he can come over and see me." Hyerin thought and smiled to herself.

As said, Hyerin went to have her breakfast downstairs. When she reached the kitchen, she saw a note on the kitchen counter.

She knew what was written in it already but she still went to read it.

"Like usual, you are not allowed to step out of the house today. Remember, there are cameras in every corner of the house so don't even think of doing something you are forbidden to do. I'll be back by midnight and when I go up to your room to check on you, I'd better see you asleep or else I will beat you with a belt again. Dad."

Hyerin sighed as she put the paper back on the table.

"Does he really waste ink just to write the same things everyday?" She rolled her eyes at the thought of that.

Sighing again, Hyerin opened the microwave but it was empty. Her dad hadn't save any of what he had eaten for his breakfast for her.

"Wow, thanks dad." She sarcastically said to herself. "I guess it's cereal again for breakfast today. Or rather everyday."

She took out a box of cereal from the cabinet and grabbed a carton of milk from the fridge. After pouring cereal and milk into a bowl, she grabbed a metal spoon and began eating.

After she was finished, she quickly cleaned the kitchen and jumped onto the couch and went on Instagram on her phone.

An hour passed and the doorbell rang. Hyerin put her phone down and opened the door to see a man wearing all black and a mask covering his face.

"H-how can I help you?" Hyerin stuttered, obviously scared because a stranger just rang on her doorbell.

"Give me all your money!" The man said as he put his arm around Hyerin's neck, threatening her.

"Let go of me!" Hyerin yelled as she wiggled around, trying to escape from the man's grip.

"Chill, it's just me." The man chuckled as he removed the mask, showing his face.

"Yoongi?" Hyerin was clearly confused. "You scared the crap out of me!"

"Hehe, i'm sorry. Did you miss me?" He apologized as he ruffled Hyerin's brown colored hair.

"Of course I did!" She replied as Yoongi stepped in the house and the both of them sat on the couch.

"So, what did you have for breakfast?" Yoongi questioned.

"The usual."

"What? You can't possibly have cereal every morning!"

"Well it's what i've been eating for breakfast the past 10 years."

"I'm gonna make sure you have something other than cereal."

Hyerin simply shrugged. "Do you want water or anything?"

"Sure; but I'll take it myself." Yoongi said as he walked to the kichten and poured himself a glass of water.

"How did you get here in the heavy thunderstorm?" Hyerin asked, trying to keep a conversation going.

"I drove. And surprisingly, there wasn't much off a traffic jam than expected on weathers like this."

"Cool."

There was awkward silence between the two for the next few mintues.

"So..." Yoongi said, trying to break the silence. "What goes on?"

"I really miss my mom." Hyerin said. Tears started welling up in her eyes as she remembered the day that her mother got killed. "If only I saved her from the psychopath who killed her!"

"Hyerin, you were five. You obviously didn't know what to do in order to save her." Yoongi patted her back, trying to calm her down.

"My father didn't even bother to do anything! He just stood there and watch the men kill his own wife! Why didn't he do anything?! Did he not love her anymore?!"

"Shh, shh. We'll talk about something else that is happier and more positive, okay?"

Hyerin started crying uncontrollably and buried her face in her best friend's chest as he rubbed the back of her body to calm her down.

'Honestly, without him, I don't know what I would do.' Hyerin thought.
