Chapter 41

I was feeling sad for what Keenan had gone through. I always thought he was just born cold or didn't like people but after hearing him speak himself, I realized you don't judge a book by its cover indeed.

"What really happened?", I finally asked the main question. He shot me a painful smile .

"You want o know?", he questioned back. I knew it was a hurting story but I wanted to hear him say it himself and I also had to prepare myself for what was coming. He turned to look at the two lovebirds who were peacefully sleeping before turning to look at me. I had totally forgotten they were in the room too. He held my hands gesturing me to get up from the bed so we could go out and talk. His hand touching me made me shiver and he realized it and loosened his hand around my wrist.

"I'm sorry… it skipped my mind ", he apologized.

"Urhm… it's fine, I'm getting better I think", I said and walked out of the room with him following behind. We got to the hall and saw Ana sitting in the couch watching her usual Chinese series. When she heard our footsteps behind her, he quickly turned the television off and faked a yawn. I knew she was faking it but I just wasn't in the mood to play along with her. She dropped the control on the table and walked to her room. Keenan giggled at what Ana just did meaning he always knew she was faking it . We settled in the couch and started talking.

"I once loved a girl ", he started. My heart skipped a beat upon hearing the first words he that came out of his mouth. I didn't know why that happened but I had to be normal so that he wouldn't stop what he was saying.

"She meant everything to me. Very beautiful, funny and intelligent . And I had a best friend. Very handsome and cool…", he paused mid sentence. I knew he was finding it had to speak but he was hiding his emotions so perfectly.

"But my best friend was interested in my girlfriend and decided to take her away from me without using any proper method than rape", he stopped and looked at me. I was trying so hard not to shed any tears but I guess I didn't try harder. I didn't know why I always felt so sad when hearing such a story. Even when watching movies, I cry when there's such a scene. I thought I was getting better but who was I deceiving.

"You said you wanted to know what happened but you can't take it in", he said.

"I'm fine, just trying to be in her shoes"

"You don't have to try to be in her shoes, you have already been in yours?", he said raising his hand to rub my back but stopped mid air.

"Don't worry, just continue", I urged him.

"Are you sure?", he asked looking concerned.

"Yeah", I replied trying to smile.

"Well, there's nothing more to tell", he simply said crossing his arms to relax in the couch.

"Wait… what happened to the girl and your best friend and how is that related to the relationship between you and Ryan?"

"She broke up with me because she couldn't stand such a shame and moved to California"

"And your best friend?"

"Mmmm my best friend is still around me", he said with a smirk.

"Around?….. you mean Ryan?", I asked while knowing the truth of the story.

"You guessed right"

"What?", I exclaimed

"But there's something off about the issue", he said seeming to be lost in thoughts.

"Something off? What could that be?", I asked curiously.

"During the said time of the incident, I was playing video games with Ryan in my house and Ryan keeps saying he is innocent?"

"You were playing game with him at that time? Then maybe he's really innocent ", I tried to conclude but he shot me a killer glare.

"Juan said she saw his face and it was no other person but Ryan, besides she's the only witness to this case".
