Don’t Ever Appear in front of Me Again

"I already said I don't want to go and I stand my ground. Why should I accompany you to your office? I don't want to," she yelled at him in between sobs.

Bai Yan's temperament was worse. He was already in a bad mood because of what happened with Yu Shengjie earlier, and now this little girl was acting in opposition with him. This arrogant man who had never been treated like this became even more enraged.

"Fine, if you don't want to go to the office, then don't ever appear in front of me again." As his voice trailed off, he turned around to leave and slammed the door shut behind him.

"Bang." The loud noise startled Ji Xiaonian.

Upon seeing Bai Yan's departure, Ji Xiaonian inevitably felt a sense of grievance as the words of reprimand rang in her ears; crystal clear tears rolled down her face silently. 

How could he say that?

Did he think that she could not survive without him?

However, why did the tightness in her chest and throbbing pain in her heart grow more intense? 

She lied on her stomach in bed and the sobbing turned louder. 

Ji Xiaonian did not notice Yu Shengjie who came to her bedside until he began comforting her. "Niannian, don't cry anymore. You should give up if you can't acquire it!"

He watched Bai Yan leaving the villa furiously and he knew instantly that the man must have come upstairs to convince the little girl to leave with him. Then, he was crossed because the little girl refused to follow his order.

As a rival in love, he should be smiling smugly at the quarrel that happened between the two. Yet, when he saw the little girl in front of him crying hysterically, he felt as if a knife was piercing his heart. 

He would rather Bai Yan return and have the two of them getting along well rather than watching this little girl crying with grief.

"Sister Shengjie, I hate him. I've never despised a person to the marrow of their bones but right now I truly loathe him. How could he hurt my feelings again and again just because he knows that I adore him?"

Ji Xiaonian straightened her position and threw herself into Yu Shengjie's arms. 

In his comforting embrace, she allowed herself to cry her heart out. "He asked me to never appear in front of him again. Does it mean that it's impossible between the two of us from today onward? Sister Shengjie, I'm in so much pain and it's killing me from the inside."

Things were going well between them last night, but his attitude changed completely after he returned from his home.

Last night, he had asked her to not seduce him. He must have meant for her to stay away from him, right?

Why did he ask her to accompany him to the office then?

As soon as she turned down his request, he ordered her to never appear in front of him again. Was he not finding an excuse to get rid of her?

How could he behave like such a heartless bastard?

Sobbing, Ji Xiaonian seemed to have remembered the person holding her was a man. She suddenly clenched her fists and began hitting Yu Shengjie, one punch after another. 

Holding her in his arms, Yu Shengjie allowed her to use him as a punching bag and endured silently.

Every once in a while, he would raise his hand to wipe the tears off her cheeks. When she was finally satisfied with weeping, he held her tiny face with both hands and looked intently into her eyes. "There are plenty of great men in the world. Besides, Niannian, you're gorgeous and you don't have to worry about men who aren't interested in you."

"Stop crying, alright? Let's go out and have some fun, we can do anything you want."

He was very clear that this little girl had no interest in him romantically, hence he could not reveal his feelings towards her easily at the moment. 

If they were meant to be together, then one day, she would forget about Bai Yan and finally see Yu Shengjie.

With her eyes welled up in tears, she nodded at Yu Shengjie. "OK. Should we go bungee jumping?"

As long as it was something she wanted to do, he could not bring himself to refuse her.

He grabbed her coat and placed it over her shoulders. Then, he brought her to the edge of the bed and assisted her with the shoes. "Sure, I'll accompany you to do anything you want," he said.

Ji Xiaonian looked at the man who was assisting her with the shoes and secretly wished that person was the man named Bai Yan. 

However, she finally understood that he was like an unapproachable king that was high above the masses. Ji Xiaonian would never succeed in acquiring his love even if she discarded her dignity to chase after him shamelessly. 

Don't ever appear in front of him again.

Like piercing needles, his words poked at her heart forcefully and repeatedly.

That excruciating pain could not be put into words.

If so, she should give up!

Yes, she should!

Ji Xiaonian thought to herself that there were plenty of great men in the world and she should give up.

She knew she was able to survive without Bai Yan. 

"Alright, let's go!"

Yu Shengjie finally rose to his feet. He draped an arm around her and the two of them left the room.

Ji Xiaonian ate some breakfast before they took their leave. 

Yu Shengjie was behind the wheels of Ji Chen's sports car. The latter had passed over the keys before he left so that Yu Shengjie and Xiaonian could develop a better relationship with each other by going out for rides.

The time had finally come.

They had a wild and crazy day, but Ji Xiaonian still felt rather sorrowful when night fell. She slowed down her pace when the two of them walked past a bar.

"What's the matter? Do you want to go there?" Yu Shengjie asked.

Ji Xiaonian shoved another handful of snacks into her mouth as she nodded. "Yes, I want to go drinking. People say that you forget stuff when you're drunk."

Yu Shengjie smiled gently. "But you still have to face reality when you sober up."

"I don't care, can you come with me?"

Speechless, Yu Shengjie nodded in agreement. "Alright then!"

Just when they finished putting things away in the car and turned to head towards the bar, a man exited the bar swaying from side to side. 

Ji Xiaonian recognized the man almost immediately. It was none other than Lu Yifei.

However, Lu Yifei staggered past them and walked straight ahead without recognizing the girl. 

At a loss of what to do, she turned to Yu Shengjie.

The latter stared at her and unraveled Ji Xiaonian's confusion. "He probably didn't see us because he's drunk."

Then, both of them turned around to catch up with Lu Yifei.

"Yifei, what's the matter with you?"

Lu Yifei was abruptly being stopped in the way and he stared at the people in front of him. It was a boy and a girl, and the girl… She looked very familiar.

"Oh, it's Xiaonian. What's up?" the man asked with a snort. 

Lu Yifei's red puffy eyes revealed that he might have been crying. Besides, he reeked of alcohol and appeared to be pretty drunk. She went up to grab him by the arm immediately. "Why did you drink so much? Did you cry? Are you alright?"

Feeling weak all over his body, Lu Yifei leaned against Ji Xiaonian's shoulder. He draped an arm over her neck and murmured into her ears, "Xiaonian, I was jilted, how can I not cry? He's such a b*stard, how could he treat me like that? Does he think that paying me can compensate for the harm he inflicted on me? Or make me leave him?"

He let go of Ji Xiaonian and like a madman, he tottered down the street while waving his hands in the air. "I don't want money. I only want him, and I want to be with him forever. Why did he treat me like this? Why?"

Suddenly, he fell to the ground and threw up while tears streamed down his face.
