Moving In

 The long-awaited moment had arrived – my mom's cars were arriving at our new apartment. As the car came to a stop, my mom's face lit up with pensiveness, I knew that she was anxious about the unknown so was I, we were both afraid of change. Changes can be difficult to adjust depending on whatever it is. But I knew that this kind of change would be hard for her, letting go of the past apartment. But I knew that she would get through this. The movers began unloading boxes, their strong arms effortlessly lifting heavy furniture, carefully through the front door. Taking a moment to soak in the sight, I watched the belongings making their way into the house. Each box carried a piece of my past, because of the items from the old apartment and the same pieces of furniture. I knew that the past would always be within me. I struggled a bit with the keys, my mix of excitement and nervousness making it harder for me to control my movements. Finally, I heard a satisfying sound as the lock opened, and I pushed the door, revealing the place I would now call home. Stepping foot inside, I gently shut the front door, feeling like I was beginning something new. The heaviness of the door closing felt like ending an old part of my life. I paused there for a second, enjoying the silence before exploring more in my new home.
