Scorch Trials 2

It was raining in that desert. But it wasn't rain, instead, zombies were raining.

Several zombies clashed against the ground at the same time as Raiden and Joel started running deeper into the city.

Every building had several zombies on top of it. Zombies started jumping down as they felt the only two humans running past the building on top of which they stood.

All the buildings sure were tall enough but some of the zombies survived the fall. Some fell, clashed their heads against the ground, and met their doom but some were as good as there wasn't a single scratch on them. The sand was a crucial point for them to survive the fall.

Without doing any delay, the fallen zombies managed to get on their grip and followed Raiden and Joel.

Both of them ran at their full speed. Without even looking back they could tell that a huge horde had started catching up on them. The only thing they saw was zombies jumping from the buildings and falling behind them with a huge thump sound.

After running through all the buildings, they finally reached the inside of the Aomori city. A city that was once full of greenery and charm now was just a barren city full of sands.

The city was filled with buildings, houses, roads, large fields, and sands. Now, they were running through different houses and zombies were on their trail.

"This is not gonna work out," Joel shouted. "We have to do somehow to lose them."

"I will distract them and you get the diesel," Raiden replied.

"Are you sure about doing this?" Joel asked.

"Just go. At the next turn, you go left and I will go right, I will distract the majority towards me but handle the few if they come towards you."

Joel agreed with a nod. He didn't wanna ask any more questions as he could see the tired look on Raiden's face. Running in this deserted area on the sand was too much of trouble and Raiden wanted to get over with it as soon as possible.

The turn came. A crossover. Raiden made an effort to take out his machete from his bag and he succeeded in doing so.

Both Raiden and Joel took different turns accordingly to the plan. Raiden dragged his machete against the wall after taking the turn in the right as to produce some sound to attract the zombies.

"Come right this way you suckers, I'll show you the hell right over here," Raiden shouted as he kept on running without turning back.

Joel slowed down a little after making the turn and tried to completely hide any noise over his side. Raiden was still shouting different things and it was working in order to keep zombies away from Joel.

Now, every single zombie was running over at Raiden's side. Joel turned around and started running in search of the diesel.

Raiden was exhausted at this point but he couldn't take a break because of the zombie running behind his back.

Raiden was so tired, the heat had taken away more than half of his energy, and others were wasted in running. At this point, he was about to lose his sense and pass out but a sudden figure caught his attention.

There was a big black hole in the ground at some distance ahead. At first, it looked like a "mirage" because of the extreme heat but it was actually there as Raiden kept on getting closer to the hole.

Raiden was at his full senses now. He could only identify that hole as a "danger". He increased his speed to gain more momentum and jumped over the big hole.

He looked down when he was in mid-air. All he could see was the darkness of that hole. After landing perfectly on the other side he turned around and found that all the zombies running towards him were falling inside the hole.

The hole was big enough to cover all the area in that small street, not allowing a single zombie to pass over it.

Raiden laid down on his back. The bag behind him supported his upper part of the body to stay a little above ground.

It was one of the greatest moments of relaxation in his life. After a few seconds, he sat in a cross-legged position and took out a bottle from his bag after putting the machete inside.

He chugged the whole water altogether.

All he could wonder was about that hole that just saved his life. All the zombies had fallen inside it and Raiden could tell without peeping down that it was really a deep hole.

'I hate the heat,' he thought. 'And, what the hell could have made such a big and deep hole.'

'Yes, it's just impossible for any human to do such a thing, not that any human is alive now,' Sheila responded in Raiden's mind.

'Sheila! Long time no see.'

'Yes, you have been too busy these days that you can't even talk to me-'

The ground suddenly shuddered.

'An earthquake?' Sheila remarked.

Raiden immediately stood up and put on his bag behind his back.

'Doesn't feel like an earthquake,' Raiden responded.

The sudden shaking came from deep inside the hole and it was getting more powerful.

It wasn't just nature's doing. Raiden could tell something was making it happen. Something was coming towards him. He could feel it.

Raiden slowly backed off and the ground was still shaking at its pure extent.

A loud scream came from inside the hole. A terrifying scream which Raiden hadn't heard anywhere. The scream gave Raiden a shiver at his spine.

The ground was shaking like crazy and the hole made a loud bursting sound after the scream.

It was so loud that Raiden immediately turned around and made a ran away from the hole.

That terrifying scream again, and this time it sounded louder. Raiden ran like crazy and something from the hole suddenly bursted out.

A fountain of zombies and sand emerged out from the hole. The zombies dispersed all over to the surrounding.

Raiden couldn't care what was all the hustle behind his back but he stumbled down when a zombie flew all the way and hit him, making him fell on his chest.

Raiden turned around and pushed the zombie away but it was already dead. Raiden looked around himself and found many bodies flying in the sky and dropping down on the ground.

But when he turned back to look towards the hole, he experienced the most illogical yet the scariest thing of his entire life.

A big, black centipede emerging out from the big hole. Its eyes were deadlock on Raiden.

Sorry for the delay again, I will try to be regular from now own.
