Chapter 9: An Interesting Clue

Rakesh divulged the details of his escapades. Martin sat on the other end of the couch, transfixed and hanging on his every word. It was the quietest Rakesh had seen his friend since he’d met the man. Martin looked to want to interject a few times, but quickly clamped his mouth shut. Finally, when Rakesh finished his tale, the two sat there in relative silence for a while before Martin decided to speak up.

“I have so many questions.” He commented slowly. “I kind of want them answered, but at the same time, kind of don’t.”

“I wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t live it myself.” Rakesh sighed, shaking his head.

“Says the shifter.” Martin commented under his breath. “So, the Siren of the Woods really does exist? And you actually met her?”

Rakesh didn’t even attempt to stop the dreamy smile that crept across his lips. “She is,” he sighed, “and she’s something else.”

“Sounds like it.”

Rakesh could hear the smirk in his friend’s voice, to which he rolled his eyes.
